Seems like some folks still like the bling bling of golden cameras - I found a store with a brand new Lomo "Diana" in golden finish, made for 110 cartridge film, incredibly portable at 51g and comes with the golden chain.

Hi Al, his gold plated copy of Leica M3 from Arte is partially done there are many unplated details. To carry out this work it is necessary to find 2 professionals. One who will ensure the disassembly of the camera and the reassembly and the second to carry out the plating. A camera is made up of different metal parts (steel, brass, aluminum). And the treatment of these metals requires different steps, for example dechroming. The M3 that I bought and after verification by my expert confirmed that the 2 screws (self-timer and lens lock) were not actually gold plated but simply painted which contradicts the seller's description. I had to give these 2 elements to a professional for 14 carat gold plating. For the lens the operation is more delicate.

My fake Leica Luxus 1a, if for an enlightened amateur that we are it will not be complicated to see this replica as a fake, for a novice it will be more complicated.
