CL with 180mm APO-Elmarit-R + APO-Extender-R 2X . . .

One of the down sides of nature:  a fledgling myna apparently too unhealthy to fly.  God bless the little critter, I doubt he'll be around come morning.........

More from the Caucasus.  Signs of habitation are remarkably sparse.

this view is from the Ossetian border.  You probably have to click through to Flickr to see it at any scale:

and a final view from a cafe above Juta (horses included to show the scale):

First shots with the CL, picked up yesterday from Leica Mayfair. I traded in the TL2 and 23mm, so these are all with the 60mm for the moment.

All shots raw SOOC, converted in LR (embedded profile - no Adobe profile available), A-mode, AWB, spot focus, spot exposure (with exposure compensation where necessary).

A couple of comments on focus. As one might anticipate, field focus struggled to pick up the small targets in these shots. Spot focus was generally fine, but I forgot I had it set on range-limited focus; for macro shots, I had to manually focus the 60mm into the macro range (half press on the shutter button, turn the focus ring) before AF would pick up the target. I'll try again later with range-limited focus switched off.

Moving the focus point on such a small camera with a smallish dial is fiddly, but I'll get used to it.

The shy bloom.  The only way I can see the front is to erect a scaffolding outside the terrace - or physically turn the stem.  Both of which I am loath to do :-).

A rainy morning at first light.  I assume the sun is really out there though in weather like this it's hard to tell.  CL with the 60mm Macro at f4 and ISO 6400...

One more hike in Georgia.  From Roshko there is a hike of about three days over to Juta near the Ossetian border.  A short part of that trek gets you to lovely high country

Scrambling around you can find nice blue and green lakes (this is the blue one; we never found the third, white one)

Lakes mean streams, which are quite dangerous to cross.  We could find only one spot in which to ford across, guarded by wild beasts.

National Museum of the Pacific War.  This is an very interesting place here in Fredericksburg, Tx. The reason it is here is because Admiral Chester Nimitz was born in Fredericksburg and his family had a hotel here which became the Nimitz Museum and later the National Museum. I was trying my CL indoors and mostly at ISO 6400 obviously handheld and as wide as the 18-56 lens would go. There were some amazing old photos blown up to wall poster size. There are so many interesting exhibits inside that it would take you several hours to explore them. There is also an outside museum a couple of blocks away where they do reenactments. The first photo is of the Macy's day parade of November 1941.
