Continuing my trawl through my archives, I found this from Chinese New Year in London 1998. I had been shooting with my first Leica (a M3) for less than a year at this stage. Film was Fuji Neopan 400 and the lens was an old Summicron 50mm f2. Gerry

Life is pretty quiet photographically for me at the moment, mostly due to really bad weather with heavy rain which makes street photography almost impossible. This means I am continuing my journey through my archives, and this I had forgotten. It shows a typical English pastime - playing bowls. The white clothes are the standard dress for everyone, and afternoon tea is almost compulsory. English tradition at its best. Leica M3 + 50mm Summicron f2. Ilford 400 Delta. 1997.

"He likes to pose" his owner said when I asked for permission to photograph, and he certainly did! Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5/ Film was Kodak T-Max400 commercially processed and then scanned at home. The shadows were a bit of a problem but the scanner (Plustek 8200i + Silverfast) got through them well. Gerry

Today I took a trip out to continue my efforts to "recentre" my work away from street photography. At the moment it is difficult because I am having fairly severe problems walking, but this is one of the resulting images: "Walking in fields of gold" - Leica M240 + 24mm Elmarit-M f2.8 ASPH. Gerry

Taken in the low winter light recently using the M240 and 35mm Summarit f2.5 at 400iso. 1/330 f8. 'Nipper' is the name of the dog emblem which has been used by 'His Masters Voice' music company for decades to promote their products. I can only assume this young lady was on her way to work. Gerry

I took my regular visit to my favourite city-centre coffee shop and when he served me the guy behind the counter said "Have you taken any good snaps yet today?". I hadn't, but whilst I sat there with my coffee and Danish this scenario appeared in front of me. It is a candid image, and they did not notice me at any time. I used my M240 fitted with the 50mm Zeiss Sonnar f1.5 and I was working at 1,000iso. Exposure was 1/60th @ f6.8. post-processing was in Lightroom Classic. Hope you like it! Gerry

This image forms part of my further adventures into colour street photography after shooting black and white for 60+ years. It is a learning curve involving a different way of seeing, but one which I am enjoying (even if I do not get it right!) Gerry
