Florence; on the footsteps of Dante and Dan Brown!

Well, I was surprised and disappointed; Florence was not as scary as described in Dante and Brown “Inferno”. But instead, a gorgeous, peaceful, beautiful and colorful city. You can breathe “art” in every corner of streets, and taste “culture” even at the smallest kiosks! I was also surprisingly pleased to even see tourists, from every possible part of the world, enjoying and appreciating their discoveries. Something that is not always obvious in some other very touristic places of the globe.

For more shots, please feel free to visit my Florence gallery: http://objectif.zenfolio.com/p320567503#h98bca231

I spent today in bright and sunny north Norfolk with the marriage of extremes, the 90-280SL zoom on the TL2. Infuriatingly, I forgot to take the EVF, so I was handholding it at arms length, which I don't recommend. Image quality is great, and OIS works well, though it doesn't make the LCD screen view any steadier.. The TL2's bug (I can't believe it is anything else) whereby image stabilisation switches off every time the camera is turned off or goes to sleep meant that I lost a number of shots, but nothing I couldn't make up.

There was one bit of anomalous behaviour that I couldn't work out. When I stopped right down to f/22 and shooting in A-mode and AutoISO, on pressing the shutter the EVF would suddenly white out, take a long exposure (1sec?) and take a totally white shot. Switching to manual and reasonable exposure settings (including fixed ISO) the same thing would happen, as if it wasn't in manual at all. Pulling back to f/21 or wider, everything was fine. It's as if the smallest aperture triggers a bug in the firmware

With most of this series I was shooting stopped well down in the bright light, trying to get a good foreshortening effect.

This first one, teasels at King's Lynn, is the exception.

Little post processing to either of them - the monochrome effect is just from shooting into the sun.

Thanks! The image quality from TL2 is impressive, but the FW glitches, plus that the video button is not programable (yet), are somewhat disappointing.

Let's hope that Leica allocates sufficient resources to lift the system from being good and promising, to outstanding.

I also wonder what the rumoured EVF-embedded, L-mount body will look like - if real at all...

The world may be coming to an end, but the lawn must still be mowed.
