I've always been under the impression that cows had either horns (the bull) or udders (the female). This kind of shatters my illusion because it has both.

Since M9 era I never turned back to film. So now with 41Mp I'm trying to dig out the Tri-X grain, feel and look... Not easy for me, maybe some of you do have a better recipe?

Process a roll of Tri-X with an unexposed frame. Scan the unexposed frame and make a layer mask with it. Then drop it over your digital images.

Use CaptureOne its grain module is perfect, and if you want to make the grain more obvious process your photo at a smaller size, C1 allows you to visualise the effect according to your desired output size before processing.

You welcome, if we meet at Jean-Marc next week and if you have a laptop I would be very happy to show you 😉

The meeting is still on !

I'd try the Nik effect plugin with TriX simulation chosen and start from there - it is ususally too contrasty and too grainy for my taste so I even out its built-in parameters .

I prefer the old TriX (5063 IIRC) to the current one and hardly shoot TriX film stock anymore for that reason.

Cool.
Actually the big difference is that SilverFX works on bitmap image and C1 works with raw image so it is much more flexible...there is no specific film emulation grain, you choose among various kind of grain (T, square, soft, hard, silver) then you choose intensity and impact. Here 100% crops with some different kind of grain with same intensity and impact.

I'll ask you to show me how you manage the C1 UI which did put me off when I tried to figure it out ...

Thanks Brent & Benjamin ! Will try these as soon as tomorrow.. (Both of your galleries are impressive, by the way 😉)

Another option is Silver effects pro. There is an instant Tri-X edit that works fairly well in replicating Tri-x.

Edit: oops, didn’t realize this was already suggested.

I couldn't use close-up lenses with my M9M. So I wanted to try an Elpro 52 with the new M10M.

M10M + 50 Lux + Elpro 52 (handheld at f/2, 1/180 sec., 1,250 ISO)
