'The King of Camden Town' in London.  Despite his deliberately intimidating demeanour he was quite interesting to chat to.

Jorge had come from Brazil with his friends to take part in the Pride London parade.  They had been preparing their outfits for 9 months.  It had been a long, long day for Jorge who was jet-lagged and just about to hit the wall.  His friends took him back to their hotel shortly after I took the shot.

I've already posted many such photos in the Karbe Magic thread, but I am sure I can dig up some more:

You can post them here as well, of course if you feel like it, it is allowed. The point of this thread is to have them in one place anyway.

I've more than enough for both threads. Here's a portrait with sparkler at f/1.4:

I miss this lens. The bokeh sometimes reminds me of frosted glass.

This is an absolutely marvelous portrait. Nicely done. Cool tattoos, too—I am getting ready for my next big tattoo myself so always like seeing people’s tattoos.

Thank you. I really REALLY love this lens. It ticks all boxes: Aspherical, FLE (last group of lenses) and APO (unmarked, but 100% so according to Herr Karbe himself). For us who also love the "clinical" (sic) look, not merely "character", this is THE 50mm lens to use at f/1.4...

It is a great combo. I have this lens and the new 35 Lux v2. They’re my only two lenses and I’m not entirely sure what else I’d need to be honest!

I think this portrait of yours also hits the magic combo of subject to camera distance plus subject distance from the background with some visual texture in that background so you get that wonderful separation but the smoky bokeh this lens has. This is in my opinion the iconic look with this lens. Plus the soft light here is just perfect.

Are you familiar with Sarah Lee? She’s a portrait photographer in the UK who shoots Leica and makes heavy use of this lens. Your shot reminds me of her work!
