35mm 1.4 Summilux pre-asph

[...] how did you find focusing at 1m with the lux? does that bother you at all?

Funny, but I have no pictures at minimal focusing distance. It's not the way I shoot.

The lens is not that soft. I was shooting hand-held at about 1/4 second.

That's typical of my perspective, focusing distance.

I got a new one in early 1970's from my first wife. I complained and bitched about the 1-meter minimum focus for about 30 years until I *finally* got an "asph" version in about 2003. It's really a very nice, tiny lens except for the 1-meter minimum. I still have it. I haven't used it since getting the "asph" version. Good luck.

Thank you for your feedback. I have the option to increase contrast in PP and then have a more stark looking image, or I take what I get from a B&W conversion with lower contrast.

love these slightly lower contrast B&W shots with the lens

I'd say keep the Cron v3 and its 0,7m min focus distance and wait for a good deal to appear on a 1.4 pre asph Summilux !

All  shots taken with a 35 1.4 summilux v2 "infinity lock" on a M2 with Provia 100, 3rd shot taken at f1.8 IIRC .

Most relevant is that I enjoy shooting with this lens in BW and color !

That's an unusual model. I have seen a v2 with infinity lock only twice.

Yes, and it has a late v1 serial number 216XXXX from 1966 .

Excellent candid shots and wonderful colours! Yes, still waiting for the right price. The v3 cron serves me well for the time being. But the more photos posted on this thread the more I want to trade it in for the lux

Dear all,

is there any significant difference between the versions of 35Lux pre-asph in terms of so called 'Leica Glow', or image rendering. Some suggest German version is better, others say earlier versions produce better glow and distinctive rendering. I would like to hear the opinion of the people who own, or use(d) these versions. Which version do you recommend?
