CL - The Image Thread

@Jeffrry Abt, Thanks , Leica Macro elmarit is razor sharp, it's 1:1 . Leica has a larger aperture range, has AF (sometimes quite slow), is lightweight, and can be used for portraits. (virtual focal length = 90 mm with leica CL). NIkon is cool, it is sharp but has narrower applications, macro (natively 1:2, and pk-13 1: 1) and tele (virtual focal lengh = 150). If you add the converter to it, the center of gravity is moved forward.

Beautiful capture! How did you manage to get close enough with a 50mm? It doesn't seem to be cropped much (still sharp).

Thanks very much. It was cropped very slightly to fix the framing. I was almost above on a sidewalk with other folks who were also shooting it with their iPhone, and kids. Surprisingly, it didn’t seem to be bothered. I stayed sometime, hoping to see it diving, but I guess it wasn’t very hungry. ;)

Nikkor 50 mm is a very sharp glass, even as old as mine. This is my favorite glass on CL and on T.

Cheers! ....

This is a fascinating person. I see him almost every time I pass by the Miami Bay area, dancing and drinking for hours. He has his own court; people rushing to shake his hand, to hug him and to show him their respect in any way they can.

I photographed him with one his friends a few months ago (you can find this shot in my instagram: www.instagram.com/charleslouis.g ), and he also remembered me, and came to say hi and to give me a 5!... lol . A real character...

A remarkable photo, Louis! thanks so much. Do you feel that your Nikon glass is appreciably better on your CL than on Nikon cameras? or is the only difference being that your 50mm is now a 75 mm portrait lens?

You are very kind; thank you very much.

I still have a few old Nikkor lenses from my film area. When I started digital photography, I obviously got a Nikon. It was D300 with which I could also use my manual lenses. But I never enjoyed it. The interface was too complicated for me and I found there were too many electronics. I was much happier to shoot with my little Panasonic/Leica DLux cameras. I finally gave my digital Nikon to my daughter who also loves photography, but she never touches it and prefers shooting film.

I love using these old glasses with Leica APS-C cameras that have much better and newer sensors than D300. The interface and the size of T and CL are also much more comfortable.

Therefore, yes; I do believe I get better result with T and CL than with the complicated Nikon DSLR I had before. :)

My apologies if my answer is too long, but I think I had to explain why! ;)

Kind regards,

Louis

Thanks, Louis, for your reply. I have Nikon lenses on my film camera and have put all my cameras away since buying a Q. But I am very tempted to buy a CL as well, and emulate you (your practice; hardly your results!).
