Agave blooming as seen on our walk as the rain was clearing.  First one with some dark clouds and the second one was a day later in with some fog in the background.

Joined the Q2 club thanks to my Husband's gift at Christmas.   He had been listening to me talking about the Q2 with a friend who had asked if I thought one would suit him.

Given that he takes amazing photo's with his phone and had no interest in ILC's, it seemed like a good option for his many travels, so I had been singing it's praises.  I know my husband would love me to learn to travel a little lighter, hence the gift of a Q2, will have to see how it goes.

Welcome to the Q2 club . . . I have no doubt it will go well in your capable hands.  Only downside is you may not use all the other stuff that much 🙂

Welcome Jayne! I brought my Q2 to England for a 3 week trip, and with the exception of wanting a super-wide shot in York Minster, I never missed my old CL and lenses. The Q2 is a terrific camera and I’m sure you will quickly get the most out of it.

Welcome.  It is a great club to be a member.  My wife gifted me my Q2 2 years ago for Christmas.  We have great spouses, don't we?

Many thanks for the welcome to the club @T25UFO, @Le Chef and yes @Aram Langhans, we certainly do, mine is generous, patient, and very understanding when it comes to my OCD!!

Having had the Q some time ago, I know the Q2 will be perfect for travel, it's how it will suit me on a day to day basis given my lifestyle.   Already I can see that the crop modes are useful and the resulting image even at 75mm equivalent are still useable to me, but I am more at home in telephoto land usually, so some learning to do, new habits to form, getting closer but remembering to think where I place people (especially) within the frame.  The b&w candid of my granddaughter is a 75mm crop example, and the dogs chasing around cropped (when edited) to around 50mm.  Finally in the woods and no crop.

Lots of different opinions about cropping so have fun experimenting.  Here are two photos, first the original straight out of the camera and then an extreme crop.  I haven't calculated the effective focal length, but it's way beyond 75mm.  I'm guessing closer to 175mm!  I wouldn't try printing it large, but the detail for computer screen use is really amazing.

Finally back in the Q-world. Today I bought a black Q2. Fancied the Reporter Version, but after closer inspection preferred the standard (would have loved the Monochrome body wise, but want to have colored pictures :D).

Yeah, I am one of the "stupid" guys buying the traveller kit, but got a really reasonable price together with a the grip.

For this photo, mostly the file-name is important :)

Obviously it's cropped to square format ...

Cheers

Daniel

Just been looking back at images captured on Christmas Day with Q2.  Our day started with a kids park run (grandkids), healthy lot!!!  Lots of celebrations of new PB's and hugs for Mom, nice memories.

@HeinzX  The trees in #1 are fantastic!

Do you know the name of this species of tree?
