  1. WHEN STORMS ARRIVE When storms arrive, With their incessant rains; Sometimes strong, sometimes tender, Sometimes with winds that terrify, Sometimes with a gentle breeze that kisses the skin, Thousands of drops splash, into a choreographed dance, On the surface of what used to be, Trillions of rain drops falling from the sky. Each drop falls, free and without care, Forming interspersed circles; Drops that splash on the water, and for a moment assume a circular shape, Before returning to the sea that seduces them, for just a little while; And one good day, they will return to the sky, Transformed into clouds clamoring with thunder. And once again drops will fall, Sometimes strong, sometimes tender, Sometimes with winds that terrify, Sometimes with a gentle breeze that kisses the skin… ©Wilfredo Benitez
  2. Thank you for the kind words. These photos were taken on City Island, one of New York City’s best kept secrets. I’m glad you appreciate the tonal scale, it’s what I love about the original Monochrom.
  3. I got my Monochrom type I back from Leica with a new sensor, and I'm convinced it's an improved sensor (besides addressing the corrosion issue) highlights are not as blown out and unmanageable as before.

And I'm considering second MM type I since there won't be another sensor like it. I just got mine back from Leica with a new sensor, and I have fallen in love with it again. My Sony A7R2II with all it's monster features, just doesn't give me the same satisfaction, even when using it with Leica M lenses.

It was definitely pouring, and I was able to take the shot from a location with a small ceiling overhead. The light was quickly disappearing. I posted the picture with hardly any PP, but I decided to tweak it a bit to give it a bit more contrast. I can see Jaap's point about the water looking like quick sand, it looks surreal, nevertheless I enjoy the artistic effect, and the mood it creates. If it looks like quick sand, so be it! I'm looking forward to more experimentation with the ND filter. Cheers!

My Monochrom just came back from Leica with a new sensor, and I've gotten an ND filter. It's my first time using an ND filter, and I don't know why I've waited so long. Yesterday evening I took this rain shot of the pier behind my home. I'm going to experiment further with the ND filter, and feeling excited about it. For the poets in the house: A solemn downpour on the pier this evening, rain drops on wood and surf, thousands of tiny splashes dancing their way into my heart...

    Monochrom Sensor Replacement Experience

Well, I followed your advice and called Leica in Allendale this morning, and to my surprise they told me the camera was ready. Apparently they had sent an e-mail letting me know it was ready in June. That e-mail must have gone to my spam. Turn around time for the sensor replacement was 3 months. I'm heading over there today from New York to fetch my much missed Monochrom.
  12. So glad you jumped in. I can resonate with what you''ve shared here. When I observe my favorite photographs, hanging on my walls, the one's that continue to draw my eye and give me that special feeling, they are mostly photographs shot with my MM type 1, and prior to that, photographs done with my M8. Some things are driven from within, and providing an explanation is futile. Cheers!

This topic on the Leica Forum has inspired me to fianlly make the move towards ND filters! Bravo!
  14. It's been a while since you posted this, and I'm wondering how you're enjoying your new/old Monochrom experience? I see lots of "heady" explanations and reasoning when it comes to a camera choice on these forums, but for me, it's ultimately a heart experience, which is something I get from my Monochrom type I (I've been missing it since it went off to Leica for a sensor replacement).
