dkmoore Posted January 22, 2017 Share #21 Posted January 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just to clarify, it is not the ear behind the rings that would cause the issue. Some straps have thick connections where the ring is attached. It is that part of the strap that will wear the paint off the side of the camera.
Advertisement Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Hi dkmoore, Take a look here Which strap for the M10? {merged}. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted January 22, 2017 Share #22 Posted January 22, 2017 any recommendations for the proper strap for the M10? Eddycam Elk I have the thinnish one on the SL. Lovely strap, comfortable and has nothing near the connection points to scratch the camera with.
6bit Posted February 1, 2017 Share #23 Posted February 1, 2017 Anyone using a cross body strap that or may not connect to the tripod mount? Would love to hear what you are using and the length. I have thought about the Monarch BOA JCh strap but I generally use crossbody strap if I use a strap at all.
Infrandom Posted February 1, 2017 Share #24 Posted February 1, 2017 Monarch can custom make the BOA to any length you require. I'd imagine the length would be entirely dependent on your body size. I'm a larger guy, just received my 55" BOA JCH, very comfortable and that's with the weight of the MP240. I also wear it crossbody, but using the split rings to attach it. I just can't come around to letting it hand upside down from the bottom plate mount.
}{B Posted February 1, 2017 Share #25 Posted February 1, 2017 The Artisan & ArtistACAM100. It's adjustable in length so that I can wear it bandolier fashion and it has thin leather protectors to keep the attachment rings from rubbing on the camera body. As the M10 has no plastic body protectors straps with hard leather ends will tend to rub the camera body. http://www.artisan-n-artist.com/product_detail.php?id=15

dkmoore Posted February 1, 2017 Share #29 Posted February 1, 2017 The urushi from Harry Benz. https://www.harrybenz.com/shop/urushi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It was reported that the Harry Benz straps will rub the paint off of the sides of the M10. Just a note. I put my HB back on my 246 and purchased a Leicatime trap that doesn't have the thick leather end. If you don't mind scuffing your camera then it doesn't matter but figured I would mention it.
Steve Ricoh Posted February 1, 2017 Share #30 Posted February 1, 2017 Ok, I'm on the outside of this elitist M10 group, but I've ordered a Peak Design cuff wrist strap and a slideLITE for my M240. Benefit: both are interchangeable in a flash without messing with the camera lugs.
chris_tribble Posted February 1, 2017 Share #31 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) I'm currently using a 15mm oil tanned leather strap with industrial 10mm nylon ends & leather protectors to stop the split rings from rubbing against the body. Original Leica split ring! Total cost (if you've got a robust sewing machine + some leather work tools) around £4. Best strap I've ever used - seriously It wraps round a wrist if needed, goes across the body or over a shoulder, is very easy to pack in a Domke reporter satchel and doesn't slip. The leather feels good, and the nylon has been doubled, so while it's not it's secure and very flexible + it's the least likely material to abrade the camera body Leather: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191890744248?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=490939489324&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Webbing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10mm-Black-nylon-webbing-Tape-x-10-/121737588368?hash=item1c58202e90:g:U8sAAOSwmLlX9qSn Why pay more? Mike Rawcs Posted February 1, 2017 Share #33 Posted February 1, 2017 I'm a bit concerned about using any strap with split rings. I've read on the forum about split rings working their way out of the strap lugs. Any thoughts on this phenomenon and ways to stop it happening? I'm not writing about the supplied M10 strap specifically, just straps with split rings in general.
Neko Posted February 1, 2017 Share #34 Posted February 1, 2017 I like the one that comes with the camera. A bit stiff, but with use and the help of a leather conditioner will became softer and floppier.
satureyes Posted February 1, 2017 Share #35 Posted February 1, 2017 Right now the 125cm Nevada from Tie Her Up. https://tieherup-camera-straps.myshopify.com/products/nevada-camera-strap?variant=21693502913 I was thinking this - is the side of the leather that's treated in the vintage way rough to the touch though?
satureyes Posted February 1, 2017 Share #36 Posted February 1, 2017 I have the thicker version of this - but I want to try the narrow version. I like how it can convert to neck strap or over the shoulder. downside is all the plastic buckles and things can be a little annoying. http://www.artisan-n-artist.com/product_detail.php?id=
satureyes Posted February 1, 2017 Share #37 Posted February 1, 2017 Am I being a bit silly - but what is the issue with straps rubbing at the side - what's different in the M10?
satureyes Posted February 1, 2017 Share #38 Posted February 1, 2017 I see what the issue is. What about these (or something similar? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Camera-Strap-Lug-Ring-Protector-suits-Leica-Nikon-Canon-etc-/192069696992

edw Posted February 1, 2017 Share #40 Posted February 1, 2017 I highly recommend the Classico Dritto by Ulysses, specifically the 120cm (~47.25") version. I have two: one for my Q and another for my M-D. They're simple, well-made, thin, and age beautifully. I don't like things like shoulder pads or multi-segment straps or adjustable elements because they tend to get tangled with my messenger or camera bag, or just plain get twisted. Our cameras are light; they're not going to be cutting into your shoulder with a thin leather strap unless you have an enormous lens on them. I personally wish I could get these in 130cm or so. (Or I could just lose 10kg…) http://www.ulysses-photo.com/product/
