The Solent from West High Down on the isle of Wight early one summer's morning. The English mainland is visible on the horizon. Portra 400.

I have been seeing this tree for years from the road. Today, the light was good and changing very fast. It seemed like a good time to at last take the time and try to get a decent photo of it before it falls down. I liked this one because of how the light falls on the grazing cows in the background.

Lovely - the shaft of light is great too!

Ok, I’ve been told by a few people who have seen both photos that I have really poor taste and the other is way better... so here it is.

Sorry to tell you this, Ian, but I agree with them. That said, I do love the 'moodiness' of the first. Both great images,  and Beauty and all that.......

Well, I have bad taste as well, I like how the main subject seems to "breath" more (I know it is dead but I don't have a better word), as there is a little distance between it and the frame on the first one.

Mottistone Down on the Isle of Wight just after dawn in July. A fog has rolled in off the sea and only the high downs lie above the fog, creating islands within an island. Brook Down is visible in the distance. Portra 400.

The well known Needles (and lighthouse) on the western tip of the Isle of Wight. You can just make out Swanage and the Dorset coast on the horizon. Portra 400.
