I've searched through the forum and can only find X1 or X2 threads referring to this viewfinder - does anyone have any experience using it on a D-Lux4? I appreciate that it's designed for the equivelant of a 35mm lens but that's not a problem for me as I usually set my zoom to that focal length anyway (old habits die hard). -
Hallo zusammen, wenn ich von meiner D-Lux 4 eine RAW Datei in Lightroom "als DNG" importiere, dort bearbeite und dann als DNG exportiere um sie z. B. einem Kollegen weiter zu geben, habe ich im Finder kein Vorschaubild mehr und Vorschau kann die Datei auch nicht mehr öffnen. Gibt es hier für eine Erklärung/ Lösung? Ach so, bei anderen Kameras ist das nicht so. Danke und Gruß Roman

Hello dear reader, This is my first post @L-Camera, and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice and help me out. I bought the D-Lux 4 a couple of years ago, so now I'm out of range of the warranty.. :-( I started to have a problem with the display, like the display would loose connection and it goes black. This started to be more and more frequent, and now my display is almost the whole time black...so I don't really see what I shoot.. :-0 I wanted to ask your advice here, especially if someone else had the same problem, before I send it in to repair.. I like to thank you in advanvce for your precious help Best regards Michele

I have a year old D-Lux 4, which is still in excellent condition The screen at the back of the camera has suddenly stopped luminating though the camera turns on and still takes pictures Any advice wold be appreciated Thanks

Hallo, ich bin neu bei euch....liebe gruesse. Endlich habe ich es geschafft eine D-Lux 4!!! Die naesten Monate werde ich wohl auch endlich Zeit haben mich um einige Projekte zu kuemmern,abggesehen von einem pinholeding auch Regenfotos in der Stadt. Da stellt sich mir die Frage :"Kann ich meine D-Lux 4 irgentwie gegen Regen schuetzen?" Ich habe einige Internetseiten durchgesehen verstehe aber nicht welches rain cover da passen koennte,es muss kraftige Guesse aushalten koennen,unter Wasser arbeite ich aber nicht. Das Schutzfolienproblem habe ich dank des Forums schon geloest danke regitime

I need help, I am so confused. I am not a techy photographer by any means so if anyone can help answer my questions in the simplest terms, that would be great! I just purchased the D-LUX 4 and i had no idea the files would not be RAW format. I always convert from RAW to TIFF in Adobe CS2. i have 2 questions - can i convert a RWL to a TIFF in Adobe CS2? If not, then i have to use the Capture 1 the camera came with, right? I can't for the life of me figure out how to take my RWL files and turn them into TIFFS. Thanks for any tips and advice! Jenny

Habe ein paar Tage versucht, mit der Kamera unauffällig zu fotografieren. Ich finde, das ist fast unmöglich. Nur mit Monitor ist sie nicht so griffig, um direkt zu "schiessen" und mit Aufstecksucher sieht sie zwar aus wie eine verkleinerte analoge M - also gut - aber damit war die Unauffälligkeit völlig hin. Nun mag es aber auch an meiner Arbeitsweise liegen. Insofern bin ich an anderen Meinungen oder ergänzenden Beiträgen sehr interessiert.

Hi folks. Anyone out there found the 'perfect' carrying solution for a d-lux with extension tube and finder attached? I'd like it to be a small, over the shoulder bag, with easy access and subtle or classic styling. Would love to hear what you've found.

Using Lightroom 2, ver 2.3 on Mac OS X ver 10.5.6. Have an SDHC card with RWL images generated by D-Lux 4. Camera automatically rolled over to new folder when previous folder had 999 images. Attempting to import from card reader. Program recognizes that there are two folders under same date, and shows proper file numbers for all files. But image previews are shown only for older, lower-numbered folder. That is, images are shown through L1000999.RWL. But starting with L1001001.RWL, the file numbers are shown in the standard gray square without image previews. Any idea how I can get Lightroom to show previews for folder 101LEICA, as it does for 100LEICA, when both are present from same date on same card? Thanks.

Hi Everybody. I am new to the forum, and because of what I read and saw here, I bought a new D-Lux 4. I truly love the camera, and wanted to share a few photos with you, for those considering the purchase of a D-Lux 4. Dear dlux 4 enthousiasts, I prefer taking my pictures with aperture priority (control the depth of field). But I understand you have to set the aperture on the screen of the camera using the buttons. If you use the viewfinder with the screen turned off, can you only shoot in auto mode? Is there a way to set the aperture then? regards,

Liebe Forumsmitglieder, wenn Ihr mal SW Fotos mit der D-Lux 4 unter schwierigen Lichtbedingungen entstanden, sehen wollt - unter muenchenmordet.de könnt Ihr Fotos für einen interaktiven Krimi sehen - mit der D-Lux 4 und Pocket Wizard, Canon Blitz und selbstgebautem snoot für den spotlight-charakter. Solltet ihr Spass an Krimis haben - ihr könnt gerne mit Textbeiträgen die Story weiterführen ;-) Die Kamera hat auch unter diesen äusserst schwierigen Lichtbedingungen, es war zappenduster, einigermassen sicher scharfgestellt - nicht schlecht. Die Bilder wurden dann noch mit Silver Effex bearbeitet, das war`s.

Hello all I have switched to shooting wedding almost exclusively with film. I say almost, because there are times when I do use my D200. These are generally for the family shots at the ceremony and also times when I want a bit of fill flash. I am usually in the vicinity of about 28mm up to 50mm in my focal lengths on the D200 (equiv). I have not had the opportunity to handle the D-Lux 4, and viewing images on a screen is one thing, but the quality of prints is really my main concern. I find it a burden to carry a second camera system with lenses and a huge slr body, in addition to my 3x m's all with attached lenses. I am toying with the idea of switching out the d200 and going for the d-lux 4 with a viewfinder on top to compliment the m's. How will the image stack up against my D200? Has anyone had experience with the a similar type of dslr to compare to the d-lux? I am not looking to improve on iq, i find the d200 does a great job for what I want. Thanks in advance for any help. Hey all, I am a proud owner of a Digilux 3, which I have recently bought brand new. The picture quality is simply outstanding! I also have a D-Lux 4, which was my first Leica, and sparkled the "Leica" obsession in me. But my recent acquisition is a Digilux 2, which will arrive later this week. I can't wait to put my hands on it after reading all the positive reviews at this site. I wonder if anyone in this list uses the D3 and D2 and could shed a light on what would be the best way to have them living together and taking the most out of them. My idea was to sell the D-lux 4 and keep the D2 as my compact camera for street photography and candid portraits. I would use the D3 for traveling purposes and action pictures, using a Vario Elmar 14-150mm + the kit lens, and, for low light, indoor shooting, I would it with a Summilux 25mm f/1.4. Is there anyone that with a similar setup that could share with me the experience of having a D3 and D2 at the same time? Thanks in advance! Carlos

Hallo zusammen, nachdem es nun eine D-Lux 4 Challenge gibt und sich diese Kamera immer weiterer Beliebtheit erfreut, dachte ich, es sei an der Zeit eine eigene IG zu gründen. Daher lade ich alle Interessenten ein, der IG beizutreten. Als kleinen Auftakt habe ich die Serie "Wetzlar bei Nacht", die schon im Forum zu sehen war (sie ist am Vorabend des M8.2 Testtages entstanden), eingestellt. Ich wünsche allen viel Spaß und hoffe auf rege Teilnahme und weitere Aktionen mit und rund um die D-Lux 4! Grüße, Timo

I have a Nikon TC-E2 2x Tele Converter from my old Nikon Cool Pix 990 that I would like to use on my D-Lux 4. The exterior of the thread on the 2x is the same diameter as the exterior of the D-Lux lens and when I hold the 2x in front of the D-Lux lens I get auto-focus as well as a fairly sharp image as a result. Are there any suggestions on how I can enable either the lens or the camera so they can be used together? Thanks, Harris

Hallo, habe bisher auf meinen Digicams im Gegensatz zu PDAs/Handys nie Displayschutzfolien gehabt. Ein kurzer Versuch wurde beendet, weil im Sonnenlicht nichts mehr mit Folie zu erkennen war. Außerdem waren die Displays recht klein oder an exponierter Stelle (z.B.Sony R1), so dass man seine Fingerabdrücke nur schwerlich hinterlies. Ganz anders bei der D-Lux 4 und dem großen Display. Irgendwie muss ich die Kamera schließlich festhalten - da ist schnell eine ganze Batterie von Abdrücken drauf. Wenn man dann ständig wischt, sind die Kratzer unausweichlich. Welche Displayschutzfolie ist empfehlenswert? Ich lese ja immer "rückstandsfrei zu entfernen". Aber: Mal sind die Folien mit Kleber, mal mit Silikon versehen. Und dies soll auch die feinen Kratzer verschließen!!! Dann riecht mir das aber schwer nach "chemischer Keule", die letztlich die Displayoberfläche angreift (zersetzt). Das will ich meiner nagelneuen D-Lux 4 gar nicht erst antun! Hat einer einen Tipp, was zu empfehlen ist (welche Folie auch bei Sonneneinstrahlung das Bild glasklar erkennen lässt und vor allem: nichts auf der Oberfläche zerstört)?

What's your favorite settings for FN button (arrow down). In the custom mode do you use the same association for FN? My FN settings is quick access to AF MODE. I like to experience a different focusing styles (faster, tracking, multiple etc.) and a quick acces is important to me. To be easier for respondents I will recap the available option: - REVIEW (default) - FILM MODE - SENSITIVITY - WHITE BALANCE - METERING MODE - AF MODE - I EXPOSURE
