Believe it or not. You can get a Q from Walmart.

Oh my!

The Volkswagen Beetle overtook Ford's Model-T as the best-selling vehicle of all time--some 21+ million sold world wide.  Which Leica will now become, through Walmart's reach, the best-selling camera of all time???  🤔

Walmart is here only an online storefront. The seller, in this case, is 6Ave Electronics. You may check online reviews of that store before ordering.

Yes, I know.  Happened across their site months ago when I was looking for Q prices but wasn't considering a purchase from them. Had to post it here just for laughs....😁 You will always see the strangest things at Walmart...sometimes even Leica.

Seriously, i ordered a Q2 the 18th march and still nothing. At the time, the delivery time was set for the 4th april. I ordered form a big retail chain in Europe, they are usually very reliable, but they say that Leica doesn't communicate the delivery date. Twenty years ago it was undestandable, but today everything is run by computer on a big network. The math is easy, Leica knows how many Q2 can be produced in 1 week and they know where they will be sent. I find this very rude, i don't mind a delay, but not having any window date is really upsetting. Are we supposed to seat on our 5K waiting 2 or 3 months ?

To be honest, we, here, think the Q2 is the best thing to happens, but frankly how many are we? I read somewhere that Leica sold around 100 000 cameras / year, and they cannot manage a decent release for the Q2. And once again, waiting is one thing, not knowing how long you have to wait is another. Even Leaic Store are kept in the dark. Where i am, a dealer said to me that they got 2/3 every 2 weeks ( and there are 6 people on the waiting list). Rolex also plays this game but you pay upfront, so you have to wait, no choice. But for Leica, you are on a waiting list, and a lot of people are on multiple lists. But, the thing is, that once you're ready to pull the trigger, if the waiting is too long the money begins to burn holes in your pocket, and, if you think a little you can get a lot for $5K, a good sony/nikon w/ a good lens, of a less expensive Fuji and a trip oversea...

This has been an interesting conversation.  It seems that some folks think because a camera cost what a Q2 costs it should be available to everyone willing to pay the price.  How big is Leica as a company?  In the scheme of things, such as the major camera companies, not very big.  If Leica is going to keep quality at what a buyer expects and deserves can they genuinely be expected to have every Leica dealer stocked with cameras within weeks of release?   The original Q also had a long waiting list and it continued to be back ordered for many, many months after release.  I doubt Leica chose to do this on purpose.  If this wait is long and seems unreasonable simply look at many other brands with a quality reputation such as Leica.  Try buying any of the really popular Hermès bags.  You put your money down and wait, sometimes for years.  This is only one example of many where the cost of the item does not guarantee availability.  Personally while waiting can be frustrating, I prefer waiting and having the camera live up to its reputation of quality.

Unless you're dealing with a particularly shady retailer, no one has your money until they ship you the camera. As such, no one is putting any money down, or has to sit on $5K forever. If there's another camera out there which meets your needs and is available now, use the money toward that. We went three years without even knowing for sure that a Q2 was planned. All that changed from March 6th to March 7th is that Leica officially announced the Q2 and some retailers began offering preorders. No one on this board is owed anything by anyone.

As you may have noticed, english is not my first language, so maybe my thoughts has been lost somewhere.

I don't care to wait, but i think that a company like Leica may be able to provide us with an estimate delivery schedule. It's a business not art, they order supply, they know how long it takes to assemble one, etc. You cannot really compare that to an hermes bag, Hermes plays the game of rarity, it goes with the artisans storytelling.

It happens  with a lot of items...  My Ex waited 3 months for a   pair of those silly Red bottom shoes..  I does seem to happen a lot with camera gear...   My D850 Nikon and now Leica...

I'm prepared to wait... and wait i shall.

My order for Q2 seems not have been  cancelled when I bought pre-owned Q from the dealer. It was ready to collect yesterday. Guess what, I kept my Q and cancelled the Q2 for real this time. I couldn’t be happier with my Q. If I’m really going to need weather sealing or longing desperately for better cropping quality I might think again. Let to be seen.

If I recall correctly, the Nikon D850 was back ordered for about a year.  And Nikon makes a lot more cameras than Leica.

Thats right say about a year and their new 500mm  gonna be a while too....  and what you say holds true.. it's gonna be a bit of a wait..  The guy@B/H told me that  people who ordered one this week...  they're looking at a  Sept Delivery date.

To tell you the truth  i'm willing  to wait  rather than  have a mistake made.. during the process and  then get stuff with an inferior piece

Got an email from Adorama on Sunday.  Yesterday.  Still on backorder and encouraging me to select another product.  I ordered on March 8.  I have emailed inquiring, and they can't release any information on waitlist numbers nor shipment dates or quantities.
