A few shots from another show (again, please excuse the watermarks). All at ISO 2500, as usual, modest use of Noise Ninja, using a 1 stop lower ISO setting than I would have on my old M9, e.g., ISO 1250 on the 240 instead of 2500 on the M9, etc.). All taken w/the old 35/1.4 'lux ASPH. (pre-FLE).

Farnz,

I hope you don't mind that I experimented with your photo to see how it would look in B&W. I lean towards B&W photography. I'm interested in how well this new M does B&W photography. Great shot, BTW!

Took these at Venice beach today. Bumped into a fellow Leica user who also turned out to be a L-Camera forum member, Mellisah. She's a skate-boarder whisperer of sorts and arranged the awesome skater group shot at the end.

All shots taken with the 35 Summilux FLE @ f5.6/8 ISO 400

I took the liberty of playing with your image to see what kind of results I would get in B&W and although I've never been a big fan of B&W photography from a CMOS sensor, I am rather pleased. It's starting to make me think twice about the M240. I hope you don't mind I experimented with your photo.

Not at all! I like it. I wish I was more of a B&W photographer but color has always been my thing. The M240 has definitely made me curious about B&W, the results seem better than the M9, though I'm no authority on B&W. Seems like B&W is about light, so the improved DR would make capturing high contrast scenes of light and dark easier.

Pic related, one of my rare B&Ws from recently.

According to the basic exif data, you used 1/1500 sec at f1 and iso 1600.

My question is why did you need such a high iso, surely a slower shutter speed and lower iso would have been better for shadows? Or is someone going to correct me?

Hopefully my M arrives this week, which is why I am interested - I will be using a 35mm Nokton f1.2
