  1. Thank you everyone. Overwhelmed by the positive response 🙂..
  2. Exactly what I was about to suggest.
  3. Thanks Steve, No, just sunset over Queensland at 10,000 metres altitude hanging out the window for a good shot 😁. I’d never seen anything like it before. Only lasted a few minutes before the sun dropped and it went dark.
  4. 🙂 Thanks so much for your comment, and to all the others. Time for me to print and frame it - big.
  5. Agreed. This is time-with-the-kids day, not a photo essay. One camera: Q2 OR iPhone. 🙂 When my kids were little and we did such family things, I only took my Contax T3 and a few rolls of film.

  7. Sydney is very humid throughout the summer months. I have had two anti humidity cabinets now for some ten years. Each one is probably cheaper to buy than the cost of getting one lens cleaned for fungus. I also have mini antidessicant sachets in all my camera cases and pouches, and in the stored original boxes.
  8. Hi Gordon, long time no speak. I trust you’re well. I too have an E49 MATE. Lovely lens - I love how it images - not modern or old (Karbler perhaps 😁), f4.0 OK in most circumstances and it was indeed outstanding on my old M9M. However, the flare at 50mm (unpredictable: sometimes really bad and at times subtle but enough to kill central image contrast) really pisses me off and has limited my use of the lens. I have always used it with filter and hood. I had assumed the flare was an intrinsic design fault, the other being the barrel distortion at 28mm with which I can live. Will have to try it sans filter this weekend. I am hoping I can breathe new life into this lens 🙂 Mark
  9. I would probably only take a 28, 35 and 50. 35 for when I only want to go out with one lens, and 28 & 50 when I want to take two. However, there’s plenty of sensor real estate for cropping with the M11 so could just go with 28 & 50. As you’re travelling with the family, you’ll need to juggle them and the photography so NYC will not a dedicated photo shoot for you. They won’t be waiting for long if you keep stopping for lens changes, etc. And maybe just take the M11 and leave the M11M at home unless you want to only record the holiday in B&W.
  10. We need a third-party manufacturer to produce a small cap that snaps into the metal hood. I don’t take the cap out with me because it’s just too expensive to lose.
  11. Get a small paper guillotine or similar.
