First post...hope I'm doing it right. Just added a M9M to my arsenal, might be my new favorite.

Great camera and likely the last one you'll ever see with a CCD sensor. Welcome to the forum.

It is one of my two Bokeh Kings, well one of the twins. (I have the 35mm Summicron IV too). But the 40mm is "better" in several aspects.

  • No coma at all (my Canadian 35/IV has some), and higher colour contrast as a difference.
  • You know how the 50mm Summicron version 3 is famous for micro contrast - well this Summicron/C, = M-Rokkor, has some of that magic too. And the transfer of the colour channels almost equal out in transmission.

My 40mm has returned in February from a serious hospitalisation. It had developed quite some Schneideritis during Covid time, the glass was crying so to say, and along with a CLA the lens was polished.
