Happy to be a new member of the 10-R BP family. For most of my portraits I used the M10-D (for me one of the most beautiful M cameras). But in many cases I needed the result at once to control light, pose or composition. I used the app to control the results but at the end it was not so reliable, I had to start it often again which was bad for my workflow. Finally I sold my 10-D to buy a beautiful M-10R BP which is now my daily companion! Really a joy to use…

Wow that’s a massive call you had to pull trading the D for a BP but i think it’s worth it

enjoy!

So I've consoled myself with a Silver R version to complement my M10, knowing that if I went BP ... the OCD would necessitate the addition of a BP lens ... eventually.

The trick here is to have a few BP lenses lying in wait at the ready...:)

My issue with the BP bodies is that they come too late in the cycle.  You're left as a collector, missing out on all the new issues!:). And I'm not a collector, all my gear has thousands of shots.

Na!, nice to have, but not a road I want to travel. I'm sticking with the M10 platform

I'm happy with the saving chrome R afforded me, might throw the balance at a decent lens or two and be done for another 5 years.

Am I the only one not really seeing the difference between regular and BP? The latter looks a bit more shiny, but that’s it.

Apparently you've never held a black paint camera.  The tactile difference between the smooth black lacquer and the flat black chrome is significant... if tactility is important to you.   I had an original black lacquer M8 anti-panda and I much preferred its look and feel to my black chrome M9-P, even though the M9-P got most of the use because of it's full frame sensor and improved performance.   Black lacquer is NOT, however, worth spending a couple of thousand dollars to trade in a perfectly functional chrome or black chrome body for, IMO.   My Leicaflex SL, SL2, and M5 are all black chrome.  My M10-P is satin chrome because I got a H3ll of a good buy on it.

@hepcatno, i never did, nor saw one. That’s why I ask. The difference between chrome and black I saw, but black and black paint I didn’t, and I am surprised it is so important for many, but this is purely due to my ignorance, hence my question.

I do not have a black paint M10R, mine is black chrome. I do have a black paint MP however. The difference between the black chrome and black paint M10R is the lack of red dot, Leica engraving on top plate and the fact that the paint will wear off and show the brass.

... and saphire glass and silent shutter - BP is actually M10R - P!

No, just plain old Corning Gorilla Glass. It does have the quiet shutter of the P but so does the basic R. Only thing different between an M10-R and the black paint version is cosmetic.

There are also some other, minor differences.

My acquaintance decided to part with his M10-R Black Paint (amongst other things) together with matching black paint thumb rest he got from Leica Miami. DM me if interested so I can point to the store where it is being sold.

I finally re-acquired an M10-R Black Paint after selling my previous one last year with regrets!

This year, I then bought the MP-240 Black Paint, tried it, sold it, bought the M11-P black, tried it, sold it (with no regrets).

A comparison of the 2!
