  1. During my last couple of trips in colder temperatures I've noticed that once temperatures get slightly cold the light meter of my M6 gets fairly unreliable. Meaning that the little arrows either don't show up at all, are barely visible or simply give me wrong meterings. I'm assuming it has something to do with the cold draining the batteries. But the temperatures I was in weren't exactly "freezing" - mostly between 0 and 15 Celcius (32 and 59 Fahrenheit) - so I'm not sure. Is this a common issue? Is there a simple fix? Maybe a battery thats more resistant to cold temperatures? Any help would be appreciated!
  2. Hi, I just found this website that seems to sell some kind of M8 and M9 generic batteries for very cheap (compared to Leica products) I was wondering if anyone had used these batteries with the M9... At this price it's a real bargain, but I don't want to waste my money... Any thoughts? Thanks!
  3. Hi, The R8 I purchased on eBay came with the motor and that's great. I would, however, like to get the standard battery compartment for the R8 for times when I don't want the extra weight. Can anyone recommend a source for this part? I have been in touch with Dave Elwell of Leica Camera in NJ and he says there are no such parts in stock in the US or Germany. Thanks in advance, Danny dszpiro@gmail.com
  4. Hi all, Sometimes when I insert a battery into the charger, after a few moments both LEDs come up flashing rapidly. If I remove the battery and insert it again, all seems to work fine. Is it the battery or the charger? Does it happen sometimes, or it's better to investigate it further? Thank you S.
  5. After shooting for a few minutes (or after a certain number of shots), the EVF displays a message that “burst shooting or recording in 4K is not available” (or something similar to that). Even though I am using a fresh battery, completely charged, the battery level quickly goes to the 50-75% range. I have the camera (SL2) set to shoot in high burst mode and I may get about 50 or so shots before this message is displayed. If you can only get 50 or so shots on high burst mode, this makes the battery/camera very limited if you need these high burst rates. Since I am new to Leica, I guess I have something set wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  6. Apologies if this has been posted already. I looked through several pages and didn’t see anything. It’s winter and sadly I find I can go a month or more without touching my camera. If I am spending a long time not using it, is the conventional practice to keep the battery in the charger so it’s always fully charged? Or, should I charge it periodically when not in use or is it fine keeping an uncharged battery in the camera for weeks on end? What is going to maximize battery life?
  7. Hello. I have a problem. I have Leica 60 type 240. I have a non-original charger (nitecore) I don't know how old the battery is. The charger is new. I bought it a week ago. While charging the battery the EE message appears after about 10 seconds. Yes, I know the manual says it is short circuit protection but what causes the short circuit? The battery? All in all, it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe there is someone from Poland who reads this and lives in Gdansk, Sopot or Gdynia and could help me? Or you know what could the reason be. Some people wrote that it was the charger and they had the same problem and they say we have to use only the original charger. Unfortunately, I do not have the original Leica charger and I don't think I can get it quickly. I don't want to buy it. I have had the camera for 2 weeks. I wanted to take some pictures but as I can see there is no chance. Do you have any solution? I can’t get the battery or the charger here. Can it be charged any other way? Do I have to go to Leica Store Poland in Warsaw?
  8. The first time I charged my Q2's battery it went to the green "charge" light. Yesterday the battery indicator was red. so I charged it overnight. this morning both the green charge and the orange 80% are lite. does this mean it's not fully charging? I pulled it out and re-inserted it. the charge was blinking but then stopped after 5 minutes. the orange 80% is still lite.? to me this means it's stuck between 80-100%? ? Anyone else experience this?
  9. Whenever I remove my SL2 battery, I lose all language, app, date and time settings, etc., and I'm forced to set them each time I remove the battery. Has anyone experienced this? I'm now charging with the usb-c port, but would like to figure this one out...... Cheers, Scott
  10. I've had the Nitecore charger for few years without problems charging batteries for M240. Just bought couple of new BP-SCL2 batteries at very attractive price via FEDEX from Hong Kong. When I try to charge them for first time with the Nitecore there appears the " EE EE " message indicating shorted battery. HK seller now says that I must "activate" them via first time charge from original Leica charger. Said original charger is misplaced or lost somewhere over past few years. So two questions: 1. Is it true about having to "activate" a BP-SCL2 with original charger? 2. If so, is there another member of the forum in/near Pinellas County, Florida, who might be able (taking precautions all round) to charge them on an original charger? Thanks, Harry
  11. So, I recently bought a preowned m240 from a Leica store and realized there was a problem when I was charging the battery. The CHARGE LED would blink and after several hours both the CHARGE and 80% would be flashing at the same time. Tried it several times but the battery would not charge properly. I contacted the Leica store and told them what the issue was, so they decided to send me a replacement battery that was also used, but unfortunately, the issue still happens when I tried to charge the replacement. I'm planning on ordering one of the Nitecore USB chargers and maybe a new Leica charger to test the batteries. Has anyone heard of issues with Leica chargers for the m240s? Thanks!
  12. Where can one find the battery charge level? What's the best way to extend the battery life? If I shoot DNG/JPG, where do the JPGs end up? I don’t see them when I import the files into Lightroom. Are they the ones transferred over to the Leica Photos? If one shoots A for aperture, shutter speed, and focus, is it the same as Full Auto in Scene Mode? I notice the photos I take in Black and White turn to color when I import them into Lightroom. Importing the B&W photo into Leica Fotos shows it is B&W, which I assume is so that it can be shared. My question is: Are there specific Lightroom presets that show the Leica style? I occasionally get the red box with spinning circle. Why does it do that? I assume it’s writing to disk but I’ve had occasions where I haven’t taken a photo at all, so there’s nothing to “write to disk.” Can I use the Leica Q2 LCD panel to focus/shoot like my Canon 5D Mark IV? Maybe I’m wrong but I recall seeing a video of a Leica Q doing so. Does changing the user profile also change what’s found on the favorites menu? Is there any sort of logic for how to set up the FN versus the wheel button? I appreciate their usefulness but I find I can’t remember what’s where and I end up going back to the menu button. Any suggestions on how to set it up logically?
  13. I really like my Q. That said, nothing is perfect and one of the weaknesses of the Q is that it is power hungry. Even though I have automatic review turned off and EVG-LCD set to EVF Extended so the LCD is rarely powered I only get about 100 shots/battery charge. That is a guestimate -- I've not actually bothered to note the exact number of images. In addition to the stock battery, I bought two Wasabi work-alikes. They were cheap and reportedly made in Japan using good Japanese cells. Also, where the stock battery is rated at 1200 mAh the Wasabi batteries are rated at 1400 maH. 16% more. Win. Except... the Leica battery seemed to last longer. Hmmm. I use the Nitecore charger for both Leica and Wasabi batteries. One of the pieces of information the charger gives me is "how many mAh" were added to the battery during charging. I used the batteries until the camera automatically turned off due to low power and then paid attention to how much of a charge they took. The 1200 mAh stock battery took about 1000 mAh when being recharged. The 1400 mAh Wasabi battery took about 860 mAh when being recharged. The "bigger" Wasabi battery actually gives me 14% less power. Neither battery gives me its rated value. That does not surprise me. I'm glad I have three batteries.
  14. I recently bought a NOS TL. I'm still figuring out the best way to use it - but nevertheless, so far, it's hard not to like the camera. One issue that I have with the TL does not seem to be normal however: when I remove the battery for charging, and the camera is without battery for eg one night, I loose all settings: date and time, and the settings in which I was working before I removed the battery. Saved profiles are still there. Just a problem with the internal battery, or… normal for a TL? Marc
  15. A few years ago, I bought an original battery for the Leica M10. It lay in the closet for several years, and finally, I decided to use it. However, my disappointment is considerable. The battery won't charge. After inserting it into the charger, the green diode flashes slowly first. Then this LED flashes faster. Again after a while, the green and orange LEDs flash quickly, and it has been going on for hours. Should I assume that a reasonably expensive battery has broken from disuse? Maybe someone knows some method to revive such a battery?
  16. Hello everybody. Does anyone know where to find a replace battery cap for Leica Minilux film camera? Thank you, S.
  17. The manual says the following e I have 2 brand new batteries and when they are charging, green light on the charger blinks all the time. Battery does indicate 80% charge when reached and when fully cahrged the green light stops blinking. Now considering the text in the manual is should I be concerned? Is it a normal thing, that blinking light? Thanks!
  18. So here's the thing, I left my M11 at, if I remember correctly about 80% battery 2-3 days ago, have not touched it since. Few hours ago, I picked it up to fiddle with it a little and now it was 75-70%. I forgot exactly. I went through some menus, used the LV for few seconds, then I think I turned off the LV, and right when I put my eyes to the finder at that very second moving towards the finder, at the side of my eye I saw on the screen there was the red border lines, but it happened so quick by the time I pulled back to see I had like 0.5 seconds to read, and if I remember it right, it said something like battery is dead or something, and turned off. I clicked all the buttons and nothing. I forgot if I switched it off and on to try again or not, but I removed the battery for few seconds and put back in and it works again. I then try to click everything, cycling through menus, use the LV, just whatever to use the battery up to get it to do it again, but nope, and works fine. I don't know what to think. Could it be that this M11 was not used for a long time because when it came to me it didn't have any battery whatsoever, even the dealer said they usually charge a little before shipping it out, or could it be that the M11 was intensively used that the capacity of this battery is less than ideal now and I should get a new battery? Because during shoot (writing to card), or reviewing (reading the card) and turns off like that, that could corrupt the files, right? Don't want to encounter that again. What I will do now is try to use the battery some more until it reaches say 30-40% then charge it back up to 100%. This way, try to work it's "muscles" up? Like on the Macbook Pro, you could check the battery health, I guess there's no way for user to check on the M11? I mean if anyone know's how to access the Service Menu.... maybe there you can?
