topoxforddoc Posted December 24, 2007 Share #41 Posted December 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My best purchase was my 180/2 summicron ex demo from Leica UK at half list price. The other purchase was a CLAd M2 with a TA Rapidwinder. Next year, a couple of Rapidgrips wouldn't go amiss. Other than that, I'd just like more time away from my day job as a surgeon to shoot some more frames. Happy Christmas Charlie
Advertisement Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Hi topoxforddoc, Take a look here So what is your Leica product (purchase) of the year?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
j. white Posted December 24, 2007 Share #42 Posted December 24, 2007 2007 shall be remembered as my year of "Leica Drama". After waiting eight months for my sole lens to be repaired, I finally succombed to the temptation of the 50mm Summicron - the fastest lens I've ever owned. Sadly my camera and the new lens were stolen the same week of the purchase - my first roll of film still in the body. I had to think hard about what to do next: Would I dive into the world of the M8? Replace the M6TTL? Not to compare apples to giraffes, but my 2006/7 experience with the D200 taught me that I didn't enjoy the digital workflow as much as the hybrid approach of scanning film. I enjoy the placticity of manipulation available in the digital arena, but the physically fixed intermediate stage of a negative informs my shooting in a way that simply works for me. After replacing the body and lens, I discovered that since I'd last looked in the candy store window, Leica had released two black paint models of the TTL. I never should have opened the door with that Summicron - making a long story somewhat shorter, my 2007 list includes: 2 50mm Summicrons 1 Black Chrome M6TTL 1 LHSA M6TTL 1 35mm ASPH Summicron 1 90mm Elmarit-M 1 50mm Black Paint Summilux

Bought M8, cron 28, cron 75, Voigt 12, and little stuff as monitor... 2008 : one or two trips to unexpected lands (Papua, Lofoten, Siberia, Amazonia, Malagasy highhills, rainforest of Indonesia...) . For publishing ? Shall see how time makes it, the money is ready to fly far away
masjah Posted December 26, 2007 Share #44 Posted December 26, 2007 Ex-demo 28-90 R zoom at a very competitive price - a truly wonderful lens, ideal for travel. Second-hand 280/4 Apo Telyt R - simply a truly wonderful lens.
telyt Posted December 26, 2007 Share #45 Posted December 26, 2007 What do you see in the crystal ball for 2008? The only thing that might tempt me to spend more money are a new R10 and possibly a used 180mm APO Elmarit-R.
leicabug Posted December 26, 2007 Share #46 Posted December 26, 2007 I am glad that 2007 is almost over as I have never contributed to Leica's bottom line as much as this year in my 20 years affair with Leca. My new year resolution is not to buy Leica in 2008(most likely R10 won't be available for purchase in 2008). However, there are still 5 more days to go in 2007. Which dealer has new summarits in stock?

waterlenz Posted December 26, 2007 Share #48 Posted December 26, 2007 The WATE as my 30% off deal. The 28 Elmarit is my newest, however I bought it in '06 though it just arrived. In 08?, maybe an M9.
peter_n Posted December 26, 2007 Share #49 Posted December 26, 2007 My best Leica product purchase of the year was a 24mm/f2.8 ASPH. Those who have the lens will know what I'm talking about.
Albert4321 Posted January 8, 2008 Share #50 Posted January 8, 2008 2007: I got M8 chrome, 50lux ASPH (chrome), 28 cron, 1.25x magifier. product of the year (2007) goes to: Luigi Rally half case. :-) 2008: get Nikon D3 perhaps, and sell all my Contax ND, C645 gears. itoncool Posted January 9, 2008 Share #51 Posted January 9, 2008 In 2007, I bought M6T (used), 35mm Cron ASPH & 75mm Cron APO (last minute spending)... and that's all I have in my Leica arsenal, because I just started RF in 2007. I'm pretty much more to Nikon.
anabasis Posted January 9, 2008 Share #52 Posted January 9, 2008 This year was fairly heavy for my Leica purchases. I got a 90mm Elmarit-M, 21mm f4 Super Angulon-R, and now the 180mm Summicron-R. I'm not sure what 2008 will hold. I'm always lusting after the modular telyt series, but it might be out of range financially. JCA

gberger Posted January 10, 2008 Share #57 Posted January 10, 2008 A CM that my spouse can carry in her purse when we go places that our M7 and its assorted lenses would attract attention. IMO, the best of the film "point and shoot" category.

delander † Posted January 10, 2008 Share #59 Posted January 10, 2008 Looking through all of this thread, it appears that less than only about ten percent of you post photos on the forum. Why? I do post pictures every now and then, If I've managed to take something I like. But I am not too keen on underexposed, grainy B&W images with nothing, or virtually nothing, in focus which a lot of Leica photographers seem to 'worship' <img> Jeff
rjans Posted January 10, 2008 Share #60 Posted January 10, 2008 The nice leather case for my D-Lux3 and a Billingham for Leica Bag. That's was all for 2007.
