Championship Point - the Winning Moment The winning kick for the World Shin Kicking Championship yesterday evening at Robert Dover's Olympick Games, held since 1612 at Dover's Hill in Chipping Campden. Probably inspired by his student experiences at the Gog Magog Olympiks on Gog Magog Hill in Cambridge, Robert Dover established the Cotswold Olympicks in 1612. After a short breast in the late 18th and early 20th Century, the Games were revived in 1951 and held ever since. The contestants must hold each others shoulders and can only kick between the knee and ankle. The aim is to unbalance the opponent, so that they fall, meaning the winner a point. Throwing your opponent is not allowed. The contest is the best of three points and is adjudicated by the Stickler. Mike, the new World Champion, with his winning kick to become the 2023 World Shin Kicking Champion. S(006) 280/4 APO-R, 1.4x APO Extender with Lei-ko lens adapter ring

Great to catch up with old friends Gregory Porter and Chip Crawford yesterday at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Cheltenham is like a second home to Gregory, who first performed here in 2012. Gregory and Chip rehearsing with Lizz Wright before their show, which was recorded by the BBC. M10, 50/1.2 Voigtlander

Is Leica S 007 suitable for event shooting?
topoxforddoc replied to Gene9816's topic in Leica S System
I have used a S006 to shoot concerts and festivals. It’s ok for that shooting from the pit at the front of the stage. But it wouldn’t be my choice for shooting a conference when you might be a little bit away from the stage. SL2S is your best bet, esp if you want video as well. -
These are specially for Stuart, as he is a fan of the late, great racing driver. Dan Gurney was the first driver to spray champagne on the winner's podium back in the 60s. He was one of the few Formula One drivers, who raced and then ran his own team - the others being Bruce McLaren and John Surtees. These were taken in 2012 at the Goodwood Revival, when Lord March (now the Duke of Richmond) ran a campaign to make him President R9/DMR and M9

Thank you Werner, Jan and Stu. It's been a while since I posted, as I have just been too busy. Nice to have look back at the archives. I will find some pics of Dan Gurney for you Stuart.

Soft Proofing in Lighting not next to Monitor
topoxforddoc replied to Photojournoguy's topic in Digital Post Processing Forum
Keith Coper at Northlight Images in the UK has whole series of articles on printing, colour management, soft proofing etc. This page is a good one to start with. https://www.northlight-images.co.uk/why-prints-look-wrong/ After some investment and time, I have managed to sort out my colour management, so that my prints consistently look the same as my screen. My office is not brightly lit. Monitor (Eizo CS2740) set at D50 80 cd/m Anglepoise lamp with 5000K LED light bulb for viewing prints I don't soft proof. Instead I ended up buying an i1 iPRO2 colorimeter and make custom profiles for each paper I use on my Epsoin SC-P7500. -
Any Zeiss Tele Apotessar 350mm shooters out there?
topoxforddoc replied to Deliberate1's topic in Leica S System
I use the 280/4 APO-R with the 1.4x APO converter with a Leiko converter from Germany https://lei-ko.de If you use the 1.4 x APO extender, the 280 will focus to infinity. Without the 1.4x APO, it will focus to about 20-50 m only. You could send the 280/4 APO back to Wetzlar for adjustment, which will allow it to focus to infinity without the 1.4x APO. I have finally succumbed and bought a SL2, which arrives on tuesday. The main reason is to use my much loved 180/2 APO Summicron R. This lens has been wonderful for over a decade on my two DMRs and I want to keep talking pictures with this marvellous beast. I can't really use it on my S(006), as it will only focus to about 10 m. Using it on a M10 with a Visoflex is pretty laughable. I did toy with buying a 180S APO Elmar too use on my S(006). But the would just mean my beloved 180/2 sitting forlorn. Sure, I will use my other R and M lenses, but it's the 180/2, which I long to pick up again.
