Here's the latest one from the Leica Store San Francisco:

In collaboration with Negative Supply, Leica Store San Francisco is excited to host an upcoming event that will present and demo Negative Supply's current and soon-to-be-released film scanning products. Founded in 2017, Negative Supply products have quickly become the new standard for digitizing film using your existing dedicated camera and macro lens, eliminating the need for slower in-home scanning methods. This event is tailored for all analog photographers, as the Negative Supply product line supports various film formats.

With the SF store it may be difficult to gage Leica as a whole. I recently learned the 3 stores in Miami, SOHO (NY) and San Francisco are all privately owned stores; the remaining US Leica stores are company owned. As a result their websites and store sponsored activities are separate from the other Leica stores.

I may be reading too much into this, but there has been an awful lot of film-related emails/social media posts from Leica and Leica stores over the last several weeks so I'm starting to think that a new film camera may actually be imminent.

‘Negative Supply’ is a suitable description of the current market for 35mm colour film!

I agree. I presume this is because of an increase in demand.

That and It could still be exacerbated following the close down of manufacturing a couple of years ago and the knock on effects. Last year I was told by 3 brick and mortar shops I frequent, one of which is also a big online presence, that obtaining supplies was very difficult. Even darkroom supplies. One place had 10.000 rollls on back order!

What's interesting about this rumoured film camera is that normally, the usual spotters keep an eye on patent/wifi/bluetooth registrations and certifications which turn a rumour into an imminent release of a new model. The fact that this rumoured one has no connectivity, removes the possibility of showing up on the usual radars and thus, shrouded in a bit more mystery than usual.

If it's going to be a special edition MP dressed up like the M6, it would be a nice touch if Leica used the "big" M6 badging. It seemed superfluous to have "Leica M6" and the Leica red dot.

Sometimes companies set up special websites to launch new products - perhaps we should run a search to see if Leica has registered nozincthistime.com, itsanmpreally.com or allourfilmcamerasarebasicallythesamesanyway.com?

Ok, it is real and it is coming.  How do I know?  I spoke to a Leica shop - who I will not name to protect their innocence - and they said they could not speak about it because it is still under embargo.

Hopefully, it won't be like waiting three years to get a Bentley only to have it end up at the bottom of the Atlantic.

I wonder if the anticipation is causing the slight surge in number of M6 and TTL's for sale right now. Are we expecting a drastic drop in M6 prices?

drastic drop prices ?

the difference is in availability :

- second hand M are available now

- new M would take some time to deliver to customers

- in near future, I don't think "drastic drop prices" would occur

- two different classes of users, old and new customers/buyers

- I hope I'm wrong though

What possible new features could be added to a film camera? Also, is the light meter in the M6 any good? I'm using an M2 with a KEKS KM02, which allows me to set aperture or shutter priority and gives me a recommended setting for the other, versus making me fiddle with both until I get a green light. I'm not sure what Leica could add that would tempt me, besides maybe faster shutter speeds.

Does Leica have embargoes on everything it releases?  Limited edition as well as regular production models?  Or only on regular production models?

It may have more to do with the embargo and product restrictions to the U.S. from the EU enacted by the last administration. It's still hard to find some cognac and other products from France and often the prices are considerably higher than before the restrictions were put in place.
