Interesting prices at the Mayfair store.

I have a BP M4 which is currently doing not a lot.

The BP M10R prices appear to be marginally cheaper .... got me thinking (and I don`t like to do ).

Indeed. My BP M4 has been waiting patiently to see a roll of film for some time now …. Time to remind myself of the golden rule: never sell a Leica M film body or out of production lens.

I'm wondering if I should order a screen protector. I've always used one, but this camera is going to show wear regardless... What's your experience using it without a screen protector?

Why not install one…costs?  I’ve used screen protector on all my Leica digital cameras (way over a dozen) since I first bought one of the first M8 models here in the States. In my opinion if you plan to keep the camera forever, or if resale or retaining the collector value is not important to you, and you don’t mind a possible scratch or broken screen when using, or for you own aesthetics you don’t care…then you don’t need to install one.  *From a buyers point of view, I personally stand clear of buying any pre-owned Leica with a scratched up screen as the issue most likely was preventable if a screen protector was installed. Also when buying a pre-owned digital camera, if it has a screen that is scratched up or broken.. it signals to me how possibly the camera was treated over its past ownership. Caveat- scratches or brassing on the black paint body to me is not an equivalence of a scratched or broken LCD screen.

Never bothered, and never a scratch…. from M8.2 (sapphire) to M10-R BP.

Well, keeping a digital camera forever isn't quite the same as with film cameras. It won’t last forever, but I plan to keep it until a significantly better model comes out, which could easily be in 5-6 years. Given that this camera is already 4 years old, that timeline might even be shorter. I don’t care much about resale value. I care more about how the camera feels when I’m using it. I've always had a screen protector on, and it’s always bothered me, just a little bit. I just ordered one from Leica, and I’ll see if I end up keeping it or eventually removing it. Sure, brassing on black paint can look pleasing, but a scratched screen definitely doesn’t.

Not a screen protector from leica, it will peel off more easily due to the heat generated frm body or temperature surroundings.. thats my experience, other might vary

Don't like all the gold stuff and [what looks like] fake brass effect.  Also, the engraving is supposed to be white and shouldn't have to match the fake brass.  I wonder whether all this adds or detracts from the price.  I wouldn't buy at a discount and certainly not at a premium, but that's just me.  No doubt someone will like it.

The red dot stuck on the front doesn't look right on a black paint model either.

This time the price is about 10% higher than his “regulars”.
I only post here, as I know people are on the lookout and my dealer is not on ebay.
