agreed. But I take great care of my gear and think I could happily manage daily use whilst maintaining it well. I found an as new from a trusted reseller with all the original packaging, strap, custom 50/1.4 lens and body, warranty etc for 8.500€ which seems like a (relatively) good deal to me.

And yes. It really does look beautiful.

but its really bad for street photography, everybody would see you :P

Arriving tomorrow. I was almost set on the R but Steven convinced me that the P would be better (for my work, especially given the skin tones). I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

You’re in America and I’m in Europe. Fundamental difference. Ensuring your home and also having the camera covered if stolen from the trunk of a car somewhere in Zimbabwe or forgotten in a particularly memorable  Icelandic pub crawl is absolutely not happening here. Also, I have not yet heard of appreciation on the insured value in this neck of the woods. US has it very well sorted tho.

Most US insurance policies also don’t provide my level and breadth of coverage. Coverage, even here, varies greatly by company, by location, by policy and by individual circumstances.  That was my main point, only reinforced by your response. One must understand the details.

Hello fellow M10R BP owners:

I bought a used copy which is working great so far. I've noticed during my usage that there's a rattling sound. I don't plan on sending it in to NJ solely for this issue since it works perfectly. I'm wondering if anyone else has this same problem?

Thanks.

It's that ball bearing that the manufacturers put in a spray can of black paint..........

Go for the M10P. It's the most pleasing image out of any digital M aside from the M10M. You lose the highlight recovery capacity of the M10R, but you gain useable skin tones.

I am so pleased I took your advice. My first three shots (one here, two more below). You are absolutely right re skin tones. And the entire camera feels more solid, reliable and with more character than the M11. Thank you!

We have another M10-R Black Paint owner who has joined our "2000 Club" - and he even has his own forum! Congrats on the purchase @Fred Miranda!

I've been a fan of the M10-R, which I've owned in both black chrome and silver. When the chance came up, and I saw a Black Paint version available for sale, I didn't hesitate. It looks even better than the M9-P I used to have. The camera I purchased only had 150 actuations, so it's basically brand new, but I can already tell it's collecting lots of tiny scratches just by giving it the side-eye. ;-)

Nice to be part of the club. haha

Good choice of lens, too. Not only does it complement a black paint M aesthetically, the Heliar Classic is a creative asset and a favourite of mine.

… By the way, leica is reconsidering the possibility of the M11-D after all.

So, how would that work with live view metering?  I can’t imagine an M11-D unless it had the metering off the shutter; all the other M11 “improvements” of pixel binning and cropping would also be difficult to achieve.

So, this is either nonsense or an M11-D would actually be a further development of the M10-D, with USB charging, no baseplate, SSD storage and … what else?

Probably warrants a new thread …

Is there anyone using both M10-R BP and Reissued 35mm f/1.4 Summilux SR lens? I'm having an issue with my BP camera not recognizing the 6-bit code from this lens. The camera has the latest firmware. It works fine with my Black Chrome camera. I've posted this here as well:

I've got plenty of brassing going on with my black paint M10-R. The only 'scratch' that bothers me is a fine one along the top edge of the back screen housing that is silver (made it the first week I had the camera). I really wish Leica had used brass for all of the exposed metal elements.
