The highlights make this look like a .095 image.

awesome as usual. What did you say to get that look back and smile? It must have been a good line!

Haha, yes - cheers!  She's a good friend of mine, just had her hair done, no make-up, but she has a smile that can light up a room. She can switch it on and off like a lightbulb, it's most impressive!

Sorry - technical answer to the first part of what you said. That picture is a couple of years old. From memory, I've a feeling I added a small degree of gaussian blur to the farthest away lights in the picture, just to take the edge off them.

Does ‘magic’ include incredible accuracy and detail as well as the ability to create dreamy backgrounds?

And the magic is in which area of this photo? Just curious.

Hi, in the accurate way it records detail.

My comment was meant to question if people see the ‘magic’ only as the Leica glow and dreamy backgrounds or does the way the lens’ record incredible detail count as magic too?

(I hope that is clearer).

Leica M240 with Noctilux 0.95; the file is OOC and was taken in an urban walk in Washington, DC., yesterday.  There is a strong political statement embedded in this artwork.  These statements are relatively common nowadays in the area.  Although that I am not trying to document these statements, or discuss them, it is not easy to just walk-by these messages with alacrity and indifference.  An earlier statement was posted here not many months ago (with Summilux 28mm).  And, the joy of using the Noctilux f0.95 continues.

This lens is so sharp that taking advantage of motion blur, reflections etc. to remove some of the clinical look is a very smart move! It almost looks like an old Noctilux photo turned the right way. 😉
