on what tropical isle was this taken (i am in the midst of vacation envy and need a place to dream about)

:)  No tropical island involved!  Beachside restaurant in a hamlet approx 100km N of Valencia.  A very pleasant spot for a refreshing drink after a stroll along the long beach.

Thanks for the recognition, jcraf and prk60091. Seeing "likes" encourages that I might be getting somewhere with composition.

Thanks Richard. We are, all of us, still learning; we never stop. All we can do is get out, shoot and continue to learn, and hopefully improve. And of course keep posting here!

Just  a different interpretation, Keith. As I am perfecting macro shot technique with my C I am gradually moving away from a very old Olympus C-765 which I have used for many years. My main hobby is orchid cultivation (I have about 800) and use the old camera in my greenhouses to record flower detail getting down to 2 or 3 cm away. I still have some way to go towards perfection on macro with my C.................but certainly the little Olympus is beginning to fade away. The structure and detail of what nature produces just fascinates me so I need to get really close. Everything has been hand held too, but I think the size and weight of the C demands a tripod.

The attached is with the old camera.

Richard

Just stumbled on this thread. Like many, the C was a present to my wife.

Coastal pines. Taken yesterday on a bike ride along a converted/disused railway track that hugged the Med coast in Spain.
