250swb Posted April 25, 2011 Share #961 Posted April 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) You've both gone off track and its none of the manufacturers mentioned so far. Its an English made car of the 1930's, but the link is in something else Luigi said..... Steve

steed Posted April 25, 2011 Share #962 Posted April 25, 2011 lagonda rapide?
250swb Posted April 25, 2011 Share #963 Posted April 25, 2011 So so cold steed. The manufacturer of this car thought it was so superior that they didn't need to put a name on it (at first) Steve
LuxBob Posted April 26, 2011 Share #964 Posted April 26, 2011 The position of the headlights, horns and side vents suggest Horch but the radiator surround is a bit thin and this looks like a medium sized car versus the monsters that were most Horch. Also it looks to me like it has racing visors folded down.
wattsy Posted April 26, 2011 Share #965 Posted April 26, 2011 but the link is in something else Luigi said..... Was it the reference to motorcycles? If so, this might be a car made by a motorcycle manufacturer?
luigi bertolotti Posted April 26, 2011 Share #966 Posted April 26, 2011 Was it the reference to motorcycles? If so, this might be a car made by a motorcycle manufacturer? Me too thought vaguely to Sunbeam (or Triumph? )... but indeed I haven't idea about which car is that...

Rona!d Posted April 26, 2011 Share #968 Posted April 26, 2011 May sound nitpicking, but I thought it was my turn to post the next car (see Humber). Well maybe it´s my turn again if say BSA.
luigi bertolotti Posted April 26, 2011 Share #969 Posted April 26, 2011 Wow, really I didn't know that "Birmingham Small Arms" had made cars, too... well, anyday something to learn...
buranca Posted April 26, 2011 Share #970 Posted April 26, 2011 BSA made cars, but I believe this to be a Brough.
Rona!d Posted April 26, 2011 Share #971 Posted April 26, 2011 Indeed "Superior"
250swb Posted April 26, 2011 Share #972 Posted April 26, 2011 Yes, a Brough Superior! Brough Superior - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'd never seen one in the flesh before. Sorry for jumping in Ronald, it was just too tempting to link with the previous discussion on British makes. But as you added the final element to the name I guess you now have two goes lined up Steve Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted April 26, 2011 Share #973 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) Steve, no problem from my side, what a rare car you posted. I was abroad due to bank holiday. Only had my iPad with me, so no pictures available. Thanks for jumpin´in! It´s JEFF´s turn now as he mentioned Brough first. The horizontal upper slots in the bonnet clearly said "Brough", but I was fooled by the missing radiator mascot I expected from the (only) Brough Superior I knew. So I thought of a customized BSA car instead. Good job, Jeff! Edited April 26, 2011 by Rona|d
luigi bertolotti Posted April 26, 2011 Share #974 Posted April 26, 2011 Wow, really I didn't know that "Birmingham Small Arms" had made cars, too... well, anyday something to learn... + 1... .. same applies to Brough Superior... I knew only that T.E. Lawrence had 5 or 6 and died for a crash, driving the last he got...
buranca Posted April 26, 2011 Share #975 Posted April 26, 2011 It´s JEFF´s turn now as he mentioned Brough first. Very gracious Rona|d... One thing I have learned from this thread, besides the introduction and viewing of some very interesting automobiles, is how little I shoot them! I would have to run out and grab some quick "uncommon angles" of "common vehicles" again. That, and as you missed a turn before, I will respectfully pass posting the next installment back to you! Rona!d Posted April 27, 2011 Share #976 Posted April 27, 2011 Jeff, too bad, would like to see an interesting shot from somebody who knows rare Brough cars.

stuny Posted April 27, 2011 Share #978 Posted April 27, 2011 Rona|d - To get it started, a one-off show car?
Rona!d Posted April 27, 2011 Share #979 Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) Well, not only a show car, let´s say a test vehicle developed over the years. One-off? Yes, I think so. edit: It looks a bit like a special purpose vehicle, though it seems not to be one. Has a quit big engine. luigi bertolotti Posted April 27, 2011 Share #980 Posted April 27, 2011 This was a crazy thing for rich farmers ;-) Applies to this one too ?...
