  1. Finally had a night off for Australia day (2nd time in 7 years) and took the family down to watch the fireworks. took the M240, Sirui T-025X tripod (with centre column removed) cable release and my lenses. wound up shooting these with the 28mm Olympus f2.8 on a OM-M adapter and live view, trying to get the city into the shot too. the tiny Sirui tripod is perfect for an M - it packs up to be a little larger than a tube of pringles, and weighs about 800g. its great on concrete or sand, but with an M on top it is still to light for grass, and "floats" - attaching your camera bag to the hook underneath holds it down properly though.
  2. In the city of Hannover there is a large area of gardens. The baroque part of the garden with the palace is a huge place. There is a fireworks competition being held annually with altogether 6 events during the summer months. At 6 p.m. people start to stroll around and look for a place to settle down for picknick on one of the benches or on the ground. Then at 10 p.m. the fireworks start and last for 30 minutes. This time it was a young Italian pyrotecnic group performing the mandatory piece was a part from Dvorak's symphony no 9 "From the New World". a second part was the group's own choice. It was nasty cold and people were right to wear winter jackets, caps, shawls and gloves! At least it did not rain. In 30 minutes time we enjoyed a fantasy of colours and rhythmic scenic change. I had a gorgeous time and it was worthwhile having been there. Canon 5D MKII with R Summicron 50 mm apart from the first picture which is with R Elmarit 28 mm
  3. Going to New York on the 4th of July. what are best photo viewing areas with the best backgrounds. Also, best iso, shutterspeeeds, lenses. On the SL is there something that i have to program to simulate a cable release? Thanks for everyone's comment!
  4. . I was walking to the railway station in London and on the way noticed a family celebrating the Hindu festival of light, Diwali, by letting off some fireworks on the pavement so I stopped for a few pictures. But as one of the sky rockets was lit its contained fell over and this was the result. Fortunately there is a school playing field across the road and the rocket ended up there so no one was hurt despite the impressive explosion. M10 with 50/1.4 Summilux pre-asph
  5. Last Weekend we went to a city on occasion of a firework to the city of Dortmund. As it took place in an illuminated park we spent a couple of hours there and felt as if being in a colorful fairy tale. (My shots with 5DMKII+Mamiya zoom lens can be seen on my Flickr account) Olympus EM 5 with Summilux 15 mm used as back-up camera. It was also good to have a fast prime lens which had to be handheld, since the tripod word with the heavier camera. Enjoy the color burst!
  6. Hola, some pictures taken few days ago in the opening of a summer festival in Pasto, south of Colombia. All the pictures were taken without tripode, using "b" position while waiting the explosion. Leica M8, Summilux 1.4.
