More and more I believe the "problem" with super sharp lenses in combination with sensor without AA filter is the transition between a extremely sharp focus plane and the rest of the image.

Not one you have to nail focus, but also the DOF looks very tight.

Finally I found a victim for a portrait today. In a room full of people, so no time to get the pose right, no strobes, just office window light and a white bg.

Looking at this, and knowing I am a 50mm guy, this lens will be great fun. AF is still quicker than me with manual focus as both the sitter and I am moving. I took 7 photos. All where sharp.

This is going to be great fun.

(and yes, normally I wouldn’t post an image like this, it is not flattering, I just wanted to share the beautiful fall-off…)
