Nick_London Posted August 3, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2023 Interestingly, whilst the update is available for download via your link, it is not yet available via the FOTOS app.
M11 for me Posted August 3, 2023 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2023 Are there not more changes than a bug fix? I wonder why they did not go from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1. The jump directly to 1.2 might indicate a more important upgrade. But we will see. And during the short time that I have the Q3 now it did not freeze yet 😄
M11 for me Posted August 3, 2023 Share #4 Posted August 3, 2023 I just see the Leica release note and there is nothing else than "bug fixes" (plural) mentioned.
M11 for me Posted August 3, 2023 Share #5 Posted August 3, 2023 In another thread we can read that - Startup time is much faster The reporting of more experienced changes with 1.2 are welcome.
volatileagent Posted August 3, 2023 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2023 Just installed 1.2 and can confirm that startup times are definitely improved and shutter lag/blackout times seem quicker. Behaves quicker frame to frame, so happy so far. On 1.1, I was frequently seeing weird behavior when I would press the playback button, seeing the gridlines, histogram, and shooting information, like I was still in shooting mode but with an old photo in the EVF. Hopefully these bugs have been addressed in this firmware too. 1.1 felt like pre-production firmware to me.
beewee Posted August 3, 2023 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems to have fixed the exposure preview bug as well. I also noticed that when using AF in AFc and iAF, locking focus doesn’t make the preview image as blurry compared to v1.1.0. One annoying thing is that when I saved user profiles, updated from v1.1.0 to v1.2.0, reset camera (reset user profiles and FOTOs settings), reload user profiles, it the custom Fw button settings didn’t get restored. Might be a bug in reading the function button settings or saving user profiles in v1.1.0. When turning on the camera after after shutting it off recently, the start time is less than 1 second. Thanks for mentioning that. I checked my custom function button settings as a result and found those for both Fn 1 and Fn 2 had been partially lost and needed re-programming (in spite of saving and reloading my user profiles as part of the firmware update). Hi thanks for sharing, how do you restore user profiles, mine have been stored to the card (ask buy the update program) but I don't seem to find how to get them back. thanks

Stephen I also had to reprogram one of the backside Fn buttons (the left one I'm using at default) for all 6 of my user settings. A bit tedious but everything else transferred. Now we'll see if the update fixes my lock-ups when powering down and occasional strange playback behavior. So far I like the faster startup time. This is assuming you're doing it all through the camera (vs FOTOS) Edited August 4, 2023 by MindsEye

Was the startup time assessed after the camera had been off for an extended time? My Q3's startup behavior (as has been mentioned on other threads) was 3 to 4 seconds if the cam had been off for a number of hours. However, if turned on after a short respite, would start up within a second. Also, other than the loss of a few settings, any other unusual behavior? My own preference is to update to a new FW of any cam no earlier than a couple of weeks after it has been released. Not that I wish any other owners ill will, but I'd rather wait for other's experiences before I take the plunge. OTOH I got the Q3 about a week after it was released. 😁 Bob Edited August 4, 2023 by BobsFirstLeica
Tobers Posted August 4, 2023 Share #13 Posted August 4, 2023 Just installed 1.2 as well. It does seem snappier to start up. Not noticed anything else significant yet. Shame they didn't provide properly detailed release notes.
Gunkanman Posted August 4, 2023 Share #14 Posted August 4, 2023 Have just installed 1.2.0 and it has reset my camera to factory settings thus losing all of profiles etc. Never had a firmware update do that before; my first Leica so well done Leica. M11 for me Posted August 4, 2023 Share #15 Posted August 4, 2023 Oh, here something went really wrong . . . Normally before the update you should export your settings. If you forgot to do so then during the update process you will be asked if you want to export those settings. Actually Leica does a lot right.

That sounds queer. An update through Leica Fotos does not work like that. I might be wrong. I wanted to uodate via the app. But that function was not available yesterday . . .
