If anyone has shot the M11 in live view mode, you will see that the same blackout is there too. Now, the the q3 has a faster processor than the M11 so I suspect it has to do with the sensor readout or memory or something else. I’m happy with shooting it in 2 fps mode now. With no blackout in that mode, it’s closer to a rangefinder experience.

I’ve seen the same problem with my Q3 and the charging grip. Battery life is terrible and it felt like it was leaking charge. Good to know it’s not just me. I took the grip off and now use the IDS grip and battery life is fine now. Do not recommend the Leica charging grip.

Interesting thoughts—I noticed the difference in shutter sound and blackout time between the q2 and q3 immediately. Hoping for more firmware updates soon.

Not entirely true—there is a very similar shutter lag on the M11 when using live view or the Visoflex.

Just installed 1.2 and can confirm that startup times are definitely improved and shutter lag/blackout times seem quicker. Behaves quicker frame to frame, so happy so far. On 1.1, I was frequently seeing weird behavior when I would press the playback button, seeing the gridlines, histogram, and shooting information, like I was still in shooting mode but with an old photo in the EVF. Hopefully these bugs have been addressed in this firmware too. 1.1 felt like pre-production firmware to me.
