  1. Christmas in February 4 image focus stack but could have used one more, I suppose.
Bob
  3. I have yet to test what you have done but intend to do so. @hepcat is correct with his statements about sharpness, blur, etc. The weather forecast for my area predicts rain for an extended period, one which I probably will be able to test your "pattern" out. Bob
  4. Yes! OP. Please supply examples along with "all" shooting parameters. There may be other factors at play. Thanks. Bob
  5. I hope that is not the "case" with Lims Half case. I bought one to replace Leica's own case on the Q3 and have been very pleased. It seems well built and quite protective. Only time will tell.
  6. Yup. Same here. I took a stopwatch (iPhone) and timed it. I'm resigned to an "initial" slow startup. The Q3's other attributes and qualities are what make it a pleasure to use.
  7. New Firmware Installed. Allowed camera to sit unused for 13 hours, battery not changed. Startup time: 4 seconds, no change from the past. Only situations when startup time is virtually instantaneous is when it has been off for a very short time then turned back on. Or when a freshly charged battery is reinserted. I doubt my Q3 is the only one that behaves in this manner. However, as I have stated since I got the Q3 last July, I can live with it. When I know I am going to use it, I just turn it on then off before I depart. Bob
  8. I recall the last update was designed to improve startup time. The question is what the startup time will be AFTER the cam has been sitting unused for 24 hours. That's when many found out after the last update the startup time had really not changed. That's why in my use, I always turn the Q3 on then off a little before its intended use. So, please respond in this thread tomorrow after your cam has sat for a long while and report the startup time. I will wait to update via SD card. My first update months ago using the FOTOS app almost resulted in a bricked cam. Bob
  9. Very Red lenticular Cloud at tonight's sunset. Higher resolution image: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53446509512_344e75ec90_o.jpg
  10. Nicely framed and captured. Yes, it is a real benefit not having to lug around any extra weight to get a shot one likes. The excellent Denoise AI tech really makes getting tougher shots a breeze. My back and neck appreciate the compactness and light weight of the Q3...... not to mention its IQ. Bob
  11. I thought it may be. I've been to Kauai at least 10 times with my wife over the years. It's gotten to the point I could drive the Island with my eyes closed. In our earlier years we hiked the kalalau trail (Now called the Coast trail. Would have been nice to have a small digital cam.
  12. Where was this taken? In fact I wish more people would identify the locations of their photos. Maybe some of us would like to find new places to go! 😁
  13. I tried to take the card out in the exact orientation as you but still failed. Your fingers appear more slender than mine and I am not particularly overweight.
  14. One thing I failed to mention..... and why I am responding to your post.... is the SD card is not that easy to remove with the Lim case on....unless you have extremely skinny fingers. OTOH, the incorporated magnetic screwdriver on the bottom is a really nice touch should you want to remove the case. Bob
  15. I bought the Original Q3 half case when others weren't available. It has a few drawbacks that eventually led to my abandoning it to a Lim. Among the issues are, 1: no access to the ports, 2: no access to the memory card, and 3..... if not secured properly causes a scratch/rub spot on the bottom of your "jewel" cam. May not be an issue for you but it is for some. The Lim case allows access, has a firm attachment to the cam, and incorporates an Arca-Swiss bottom if you want to use a tripod. There are others but the Lim case is quite good. Bob
  16. Another treat tonight on the drive home from the weekend. SoCal colors.
  17. Okay, Since I am not an expert in this field, I plugged in the A7R5 data into the second graph you linked and got the following. My feeble brain indicates the Q3 fares better. Is this correct? https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR_Shadow.htm#Leica Q3,Sony ILCE-7RM5 Bob
  18. For curiosity I clicked on an A7R5 to add that to the graph. If I am reading the chart correctly, it appears at ISO 100 up, the Leica sensor appears to have a 1 stop DR advantage over the R5 through the entire range. Am I correct? Bob
  19. You are forgiven!!!! Atoning is liberating! 😁 Bob PS.... I like my Q3 as well!
  20. I understood what you meant. It did not look right using the wall . Next time something white. However, I was there for the history and art. For that it was a great afternoon. Bob ps. The colors were pretty close regardless.
  21. I did try in post but it gave a slightly green tinge.... so I stayed with the Auto WB. However, a real good idea about the white handkerchief. I'll just have to go back. Bob
