For fools or not, there is a ‘mistake’.

the optical, mechanical viewfinder/rangefinder has been replaced by an electronic viewfinder.

the M-camera mechanical wheel is a bonus as - with a simple digital converter/sensor - it will convey the distance the lens is at, to be shown. And retaining 6 bits windows allows the real Leica lens to be detected and shown/recorded.
That should be a key design element. Else it is just another (for example third party) L-mount body…

It already does this... On M10M and M11.

Actually there is some truth in this. But for the E- range Leica are going screen-free from the start and going for the wesentliches Wesentliche, with the E-D:

I wonder what the frameline selector does? Maybe this advanced EVF has (simulated) framelines like an OVF? So that you can see what is just outside the image area.

And the rangefinder adjustment behind the (now exposed) screw cover? Maybe to adjust the simulated rangefinder patch in the middle of the EVF?

And Leica please give this camera a removable bottom plate!
