Whatever you do don`t abandon the Canon R is all I would say .

A dependable make with a well thought out and extensive range of lenses .

I jumped out of Canon to Sony because Canon ,at that time , didn`t have a mirror less body .

Both though are solid and dependable platforms whereas Leica have all the attributes we know and love but tends to be .... more ephemeral (other than the M). IMO

This thread seems to duplicate a lot of "Oh oh future of CL". I wonder if they could be merged?

My main message, again, is: A lot of people need and want a compact, capable Leica with AF and interchangeable lenses.

Not too hard, surely? 😀

I would continue to be enthusiastic in apsc if only I knew that Leica is still developing on it. OR develop a FF ala CL in + 47 MP ...

it would make a lot of sense for Leica to streamline the L mount.

A bigger high MP (60) camera with the current SL body to appease people coming from the S side of things + a smaller SL3-S with lower MPs (40+), smaller footprint, more focused on video for the video folks, CL and people that want a M with a EVF or a Q with interchangeable lenses but don't want to hire a sherpa to carry the SL2.

True! I wish all the posts about this issue would be in the same thread. In case anyone in Leica AG is interested about our views and is following our discussions; this would make more impact!

If I were to merge the threads the discussion would become so disjointed that it would be quite hard to follow.

I wish people joined the discussions in the same thread from the beginning.

I have the same wish, but I am also hopeful that via multiple threads Leica will see the level of support there is for the CL (and the wish for a CL2).    It is of course a business decision, for which I do not have any of the data/details.  I just know that as a Leica R, Leica M (digital and film), Leica SL, and CL user, each has it own use and having the various options is a huge plus.  The CL is such a great small/light options, that is so easy just to have with you, and capture such great images. I hope that it has a future, if not, I am still happy to have it for now.

How many more posts can any of these threads on the "TL/CL" future accomodate?  At a combined total > 900 posts, and that's just the recent threads, what is left to say?  If Leica did not get the message yet, another 1,000 posts is not going to add anything to the communication.

Maybe, but maybe not.  If some percentage of the total number of post can be interpreted to represent some level of desired Leica investment for a CL2, or perhaps a movement away from future Leica purchase for a different brand, than another 1,000, 2,000, or 50,000 could perhaps send an even stronger message.  I don't know, and I can also relate to the frustration of seeing the same views being expressed over and over again.  But perhaps the number does indeed matter.  How much, I have no idea.

Leica in Germany and Leica in USA are recently  making lots of publicity in Instagram  for SL system and even for DLux-7 that is a Pana in reality. If anyone is in Instagram and sees these ads, I think it may be helpful to respond with the mention of our interest in CL.

Leica knows how many APS-C L mount cameras it has sold and where.  It is a fair bet it has a good idea how many of those are on this forum.  Noise won’t make up for numbers in a commercial decision like this.

You are of course correct .

The model is IMO dead in the water .

The decision has already been made I fear.

Sorry to sound like a fan-boy for Sigma, which certainly has its drawbacks in its camera systems (both its Foveon and Sony sensors), but its CEO/owner, Yamaki-san, is completely transparent about all its products and pending products. If Sigma decided to end a camera or lens line, everyone would know. And if it didn't and there were rampant speculation otherwise, Sigma will state so. At least that's my impression from following Sigma for a couple of years now.

Is he really transparent about the future of Foveon sensors? Just asking as i have no idea but each company has its own secrets.
