My biggest takeout from this thread is that the MP looks discernibly smaller than the M10R. And better with the lens mount offset more from centre (or perhaps I am imagining that)?

Enough that I would be happy if that were Leica’s priority for the M11 - make it smaller?

In the meantime, adding a soft release button helps the problem a little, but doesnt solve it completely. 

Typical Leica. I bought a summilux 28 that was broken out of the box. 6 months later, it's still in weltzlar with no news. 

Not surprised. It seems that when there are items that are in high demand like newly released bodies/lenses, output quality plummets for Leica. There seems to be more and more very obvious quality issues coming out of Wetzlar in the past year. Things I would have expected to be caught if anyone bothered to even take a glance like:

1. Lens barrel engraved with the wrong focal length
2. Label on silver box for lens applied upside-down

When I got my M10 a few months after release, the rangefinder was completely out of calibration out of the box. Then when I sent it in for calibration through my local Leica dealer, the body was apparently lost during shipping and I didn’t find out until 6 months later when I inquired about the status. Thankfully, my local Leica dealer replaced my M10 with a demo model free of charge but I was still peeved to be out of a body for 6 months and the demo model had more shutter actuations then my original body, even though my dealer said it was ‘new’.

I’m usually a bit leery of jumping onto hot new releases from Leica. Best to wait a few months to let production settle down and sort out the kinks before forking over the cash.

Interesting. I`ve never had such experiences with (new) Leica products or with their service - lucky me.

Meanwhile I have my copy too, everything works absolutely perfect. I think this is the most beautiful digital M, which has been produced up to date.

@StevenHave you asked for a replacement ? Otherwise good luck to you for getting the camera fixed quick and properly !

I wonder if Leica sometimes has issues with the special paint application affecting the shutter buttons. My first Q-P wouldn't hold a shutter half-press, and it happened to other Q-P owners. Could be the thicker paints can gum up the shutter button (?).

Mine fires just fine. I have a silver M10r and the new M10R BP side by side and the shutter on them are very similar. No issues at all.

As for C), it has to be a revered Leica photographer.

And unfortunately it looks totally fake. The trouble with trying to fake wear is that people only tend to rub edges in the obvious places and highpoints whereas real wear is far more random and to be believable has to encompass the idea that it could actually be ugly in places. Smooth wear along edges can happen in the areas where fingers are always touching the camera, but along other edges the brassing forms from little bites being taken out of the paint by knocks maybe with another camera or rubbing against a lens in a camera bag, eventually forming a longer area of brassing on an edge. But on an authentically worn body the brass underneath is itself often tarnished with age to a darker colour and is never uniformly polished looking. You see this tarnished brass effect in Leica's Lenny Kravitz Edition, although the rest still looks like fake wear. You can use chemicals to develop brass tarnishing but once again it can look fake if there isn't any randomness to it.

I've got a couple of the Custom Shop Relic's, a Nocaster (Telecaster before it had a name), and a '56 Strat and the work involved makes them look their age. A simple enough statement in the same way a real worn BP M3 looks it's age, or even a early release modern MP can look it's age. But a reliced M10R has no age, it's in no way equivalent to a '56 Strat that is a perfect replica in every respect to the original. All you have is a prematurely worn M10R, it's not a relic because there is no history to look back to, there wasn't one even two years ago.
