SunnySixteen Posted April 26, 2021 Share #43 Posted April 26, 2021 I'm traveling this week for a few days and decided to take one camera and one lens, Leica M6 classic and Summicron 35 IV, 4 rolls of tri-x and 2 rolls of portra 400. Typically I bring my small camera bag with M2, M6, 21, 28, 35, 50 so I have options ... one body color ... one BW, but this will be a good test to see if a minimal kit covers my shooting needs. Here's a couple quick cell phone snaps for reference Welcome, dear visitor! otto.f Posted April 26, 2021 Share #45 Posted April 26, 2021 I would never do that, but if this is the desert island question, that I’m only allowed to bring one camera and one lens, I would go for the Mamiya 7ii with 65mm. If it would have to be Leica I’d go for my M4 with 75lux.
Ouroboros Posted April 27, 2021 Share #46 Posted April 27, 2021 If it has to be Leica it would be my Leica MP and 28mm summaron-m. Otherwise, my Fuji GSW690iii

Hello, the case is an Eagle Creek travel case designed for electronics, probably purchased at REI. That is exactly how I use it, I can drop it in a backpack or briefcase without worry, it's protective and minimal. TheBestSLIsALeicaflex Posted June 9, 2021 Share #51 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) I did this one camera, one lens experiment once. In my case it was an M mount rangefinder and 35mm focal length, used exclusively for about a year. I really wanted to learn how to use the lens on a rangefinder. At the end of it all, discovered that lens is all I really needed (for me). Sold everything else. Still have a dual range Summicron because (theoretically), I may use the close focusing ability someday, but it just sits on the shelf. Didn't save any money though, because now I have multiple 35's, one for each body, but it sure did simplify photography for me. And the few shots I can't get with a 35, I don't worry about. Saves my back too, since I always go for the small, light 35's. All this came, however, after an extensive and lengthy period of experimentation, with multiple camera systems, and different formats, so maybe I got something out of system. Nice to have all the choices, since we are all different. Edited June 9, 2021 by TheBestSLIsALeicaflex
earthphoto Posted June 9, 2021 Share #52 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) Leica M2 and Summicron 5cm/2.0 for me, and sometimes Leica M6 with Summicron 5cm/2.0. Edited June 9, 2021 by earthphoto
Tim-r Posted June 12, 2021 Share #53 Posted June 12, 2021 Tried it for 5 years with an R-E (great camera) + 35 Summicron but over time realised the 35 was too wide so switched to M6 with 50 Summicron and not wanted for anything in else in 15 years…..
Tom R Posted June 12, 2021 Share #54 Posted June 12, 2021 Did this for over ten years: Leica M2, 35mm Summicron. Still exploring and using many of those images. If I had to do this today, any "even numbered" Leica M film body, 35mm Summicron lens.

ktmrider2 Posted November 12, 2023 Share #57 Posted November 12, 2023 Saw I replied to this back in 2021. Nothing has changed except I would eliminate the 50 from consideration. I have become a 35 guy. So, M4 with 35f2.8 C Biogon for light weight or M4 with 35f1.2 Nokton if I was worried about low light.
Wildpeak Posted November 12, 2023 Share #58 Posted November 12, 2023 For me, my Leica MP with a 28mm Elmarit. Don’t use much else anyway. Alternatively I could also live with just my 500c and the 80mm Planar. Different photography for sure but the enjoyment I get out of that camera is unique enough that it could easily be my one and only.
