Very sad! The deaths are limited to a particular area in the NW Okavango. Suspicions are that it's either Anthrax or possibly poisoning, there are a few villages in that area, so maybe human - wildlife conflict related.  It doesn't seem to be poaching related, as the dead elephants still have their tusks.

On a more positive note, it's always rewarding to see elephant herds with newly born calves.  This youngster is about 2 or 3 months old  - SL2 & VE 90-280mm L

My brother recently offloaded a pile of his Canon gear & he gave me this lens which somehow got left behind,  Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Lens  in mint condition.

It's the first time that I've used it on the SL2 & the Sigma MC-21 adapter. Focus is accurate, but for some reason it's noticeably slower than the Canon 400mm f4 II USM is on the SL2.   I've always subscribed to the school of thought that you can never have enough lenses, even better when they cost you nothing......

Hungry Birds.

SL2 & APO-SUMMICRON-SL 1:2/50 ASPH.

Tight crop on the birds shows how the bigger sensor is helpful.

I hope that given the number of Macro images we are seeing in this thread that Leica decide to finally launch a dedicated L Macro lens. I'm a bit concerned there has been no lens roadmap updates beyond the wide angle lenses, and who knows if and when those will actually materialize.

In these times when thousands of companies are struggling to survive, it would be very surprising if Leica would publish high-flying plans of future roadmaps. They were already out of business once with their R system in 2009, when they also had plans to move to digital and AF. The SL system is not necessarily much more popular than R. So currently we can be happy if we see the new wide angle lenses next year. Remember just a few months ago they took several less popular M lenses off their offering list. Panasonic also removed the macro lens from their roadmap, probably not expecting a best seller.
