I think it tells you more about the age of the country and the age of the road network.

Nice shot!  Too bad the policeman directing traffic from that little pavilion has been replaced by traffic lights.

I’m in Washington DV right now and I often think how different yet similar is this Lutyens‘s fashioning of the central promenade is to Teh Mall in DC.
