sblitz Posted March 1, 2019 Share #321 Posted March 1, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) 35/50/90 covers all grounds. The 35 is really the walk-about-snapshot lens, 28 can fill that as well I just prefer the 35 field of view. 50 is a walk-about lens that gives the opportunity to do what a rangefinder does best vs a TTL view, choose what you want in the frame. I supposed if you are in a hurry or your spouse/partner is less enamored with waiting for you to keep up then best keep the 35 on the camera. The 90 is the telephoto/portrait, its use depends on the holiday. I love the 75 but on a trip it is a bit of the 50 and the 90, more like the 50 to me since it gives me the framing opportunity, is a great portrait lens, but not quite a telephoto. Consequently I would be more inclined to do 35/75/90 than 35/50/75. One last possibility is dropping the 35/50 and taking the 40mm (I have the original Leica 40 for the CL, wonderful little lens which has a very broad hyperfocal range, set it and just use the 40mm attachment) and the 75/90 or if your tastes are run wider 28/40/75. FWIW, when I take my R6.2 its 28/50/85.
Advertisement Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Hi sblitz, Take a look here Two lens kit travel combo. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
g2van Posted March 1, 2019 Share #322 Posted March 1, 2019 I suppose the combo depends on the type of travel. Previously my go-to 2 lens combo was the CV21/4 and 35FLE with M240 Now I finally found a great copy of the rare Konica 21-35 dual M-Hexanon (2 focal lengths, not zoom) and it works really great with my M10, my new combo is: Konica 21-35 + 35FLE More recently I got a great copy of the Minolta 40/2 and for its size and weight, this would take over the 35FLE if weight was an issue - the Minolta was adapted to 35mm framelines. a.noctilux Posted April 11, 2019 Share #323 Posted April 11, 2019 This Minolta 2/40mm reminds me of the good old day (? really ? ) of Minolta CLE in 1980's offered as kit in a nice and handsome pouch to carry CLE + 28/40/90 + dedicated flash the nicest light kit that I used for trip when I didn't want Leica M + 3 x Summicron as 35/50/90 😉 Recently, nostalgia made me buy another Minolta M-Rokkor 2/40 to maybe combined with 28mm or 90mm, I don't know which will be the best combo-two-lenses-kit "40/28" or "40/90" time will tell
stephan54 Posted April 11, 2019 Share #324 Posted April 11, 2019 In an earlier reply I said 28 (Elmarit) and 50 (Summilux), but after having bought and tried out the Telyt 135, I think that 135mm is a very versatile focal length.

jaeger Posted April 14, 2019 Share #326 Posted April 14, 2019 my last trip was 24 and 90. This trip is 35 and 180. really depends on what you do.

ktmrider2 Posted April 15, 2019 Share #329 Posted April 15, 2019 I reread my post from a few months ago and things have changed just a bit. I am getting ready for a six month or longer solo trip around the world. I hope to write a blog and post photos as I go. I just purchased a FujiX100F and it has an excellent 35 FOV. It is going as a backup and for when I am lazy and don't want to carry the MP240 due to weight or cost. However, the Leica will go with 25/50/90. If I had to restrict myself to two lenses for the Leica, it would be the 25/90 while using the X100F for 35FOV. I still prefer film but posting photos online is SO much easier with digital.
Leicaiste Posted April 15, 2019 Share #330 Posted April 15, 2019 My city trip kit is now an M10P with a 35/2 Asph and the 50/2 Apo (It use to be the 50/1,4). The lens not in use stays in a shammy bag into my trouser pocket. After all those years travelling with a camera bag full of lenses, I finally settled for that.
Telemetric Posted April 15, 2019 Share #331 Posted April 15, 2019 In my opinion. 35 and 50 lenses are too close. For me, the best two lenses kist is: - ELMARIT-M 28MM F.2.8 ASPH - SUMMICRON-M 2/ 50MM
rramesh Posted April 15, 2019 Share #332 Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) If you have x lenses in your inventory, where x is greater that 2, and you need to pick any two, the number of ways you can do it is x(x-1)/2, I believe. Since all Leica lenses are designed to take great pictures you're choice will always be a great choice. Edited April 15, 2019 by rramesh

But when one needs only two lenses that is the question ( kind of "Internet poll" more than often ). Anyway, the answers are as many as answerers, so not relevant, also. I see this as a joke or maybe a game which we can play more than one role 😎. Not one answer would be the right one ! Just play ... benqui Posted April 15, 2019 Share #334 Posted April 15, 2019 My solution when I travel is a 35mm, thats all. And a 90mm for portraits if I need two lenses.
Ouroboros Posted April 15, 2019 Share #335 Posted April 15, 2019 If I could only take two lenses for traveling with my MP, it would be my 28mm summicron asph and 90mm elmarit-m f2.8 but the thought of leaving my 50mm elmar-m f2.8 and 35mm summicron asph at home is unthinkable. They all go with me and I can get more film in the larger bag!
M11 for me Posted April 15, 2019 Share #336 Posted April 15, 2019 vor 2 Stunden schrieb rramesh: If you have x lenses in your inventory, where x is greater that 2, and you need to pick any two, the number of ways you can do it is x(x-1)/2, I believe. Hm, it is not about how many times you can choose 2 lenses out of x lenses (x being greater than 2). It is about which two focal lengths with which max. aperture you should choose. However: When I see how many posts we have here you are probably right. And as there might be duplicate posts I would assume that the right formula is: (x(x-1)/2)+y whereas x is the number of lenses that is >2 and y is any number >2. Kindest regards. Nothing serious or dangerous. I wrote some posts ago that this is just a game (or joke) thread that participants can "play roles" as many roles as they like. Post #333 ! Formulas are welcome 😍 I like formulas or "recettes" (in french it means plenty of opinions from "users-who-knows-the-matter-well-with-their-own-proved-experiences"- ) (for example, in my Harraps-Shorter, " la recette du bonheur " with traduction " the secret of / or recipe for happiness" ) Edited April 15, 2019 by a.noctilux
