sm23221 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #84 Posted May 3, 2011 How does one order his book? I can't locate any ordering information on his site. Thanks.
anabasis Posted May 3, 2011 Share #85 Posted May 3, 2011 How does one order his book? I can't locate any ordering information on his site. Thanks. I wrote an email and sent him paypal funds to the address quoted in his blog. I hope that was right. JCA
jaapv Posted May 3, 2011 Share #86 Posted May 3, 2011 And it is clear Erwin is working on it; I paypalled him a few months ago, but apparently overpaid on the postage. I unexpectedly got a refund of the excess two days ago.

ho_co Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share #88 Posted May 3, 2011 How does one order his book? I can't locate any ordering information on his site. Thanks. To order: Go to Blog. The ordering (Paypal) address is highlighted just above the bank info. Contacting Erwin via his "Contact me" address is slower, because you still have to arrange payment. k-hawinkler Posted May 3, 2011 Share #90 Posted May 3, 2011 Has anybody received the book yet? I am actually more interested in the digital than the book version. It's easier to search for information. I am glad that Mr. Puts announced that's in the works as well. K-H.
vintola Posted May 3, 2011 Share #91 Posted May 3, 2011 Same here. I have ordered also the Gutenberg version, but I am eagerly looking forward for the iPad version. While photographing the Puts will be then always with me in my camera bag, which of course houses iPad. The Gutenberg version is too heavy and too big to carry around. - vintola -
rob139 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #92 Posted May 3, 2011 It's here! I just arrived home and found a large carton between other post. It contained the new compendium, looks very good at first sight, very nice graphic design. Happy. Very happy. It comes with a little surprise as well, I won't spoil it though. When I finish the book there will be a full review. Hope you get your copies soon! Rob
pico Posted May 3, 2011 Share #93 Posted May 3, 2011 Puts mentioned the difficulties of publishing on paper through PDF. My wife does exactly that kind of work for a magazine. An alternative might be a handsome, professional web presentation available by subscription. I have found this resource to be very valuable and worth every penny. k-hawinkler Posted May 3, 2011 Share #94 Posted May 3, 2011 I don't really care what format the digital version is in, as long as I can use it on my iPad and MacBook Pro. K-H.
stunsworth Posted May 3, 2011 Share #95 Posted May 3, 2011 I would have thought Erwin would be better off publishing the electronic version of the book through Amazon as a Kindle book. There's potentially a much larger audience than publishing it as an iPad app.

There's potentially a much larger audience than publishing it as an iPad app. I agree. But didn't he also say the digital version was only for book purchasers? I don't think that makes sense, artificially limiting his potential market. K-H.
stunsworth Posted May 3, 2011 Share #97 Posted May 3, 2011 Can you limit an iPad app published via the App store to certain people? Publish it as a PDF and it'll soon be available on torrent sites
k-hawinkler Posted May 3, 2011 Share #98 Posted May 3, 2011 I understand that he promised a limited book version. But why should that carry over to a digital version? His best bet is probably a Kindle or iBook version. K-H.
mhoutman Posted May 4, 2011 Share #99 Posted May 4, 2011 Can you limit an iPad app published via the App store to certain people? Yes, one can and this is often the case when developers use beta testers for their apps. In those cases TestFlight is used and it works great. https://testflightapp.com/ Yet, I don't think distributing a book through TestFlight is very convenient
Paulus Posted May 4, 2011 Share #100 Posted May 4, 2011 I'm reading Erwin Puts book as we speak. I think it's a great book with lots of information. It has an eloquent sober cover and a nice lay-out and lots of photos and drawings Small price for such a big extensive book! With the package also came a little book enclosed ( same white cover as the big book with a photo of the M9 " Leica pocket guide " ISBN /EA : 978-94-91089-01-5 ) with all the serial numbers of cameras and lenses. Very handy!
