Stuart,

I regret I have not found anything to post that has not already been seen. I am just starting a months' long course of unpleasant medical treatment so unlikely to be taking many photographs in the near future. Can either you or someone else step in to help please.

Wilson

Hello Wilson,

Hope all goes well & that you will be well soon.

Best Regards,

Michael

Sorry, not a Porsche, in fact not even German. From South of the alps, but with a smaller displacement motor, slower, yet more expensive than any road Porsche of the period.

The people behind this car, and trust me, they were some of the most prominent & legendary names of the time, had grandious plans for mass production ( in the thousands annually ) but the cost / performance numbers simply killed it after a couple of years. and little more than a hundred or so cars.

Another visual clue.....the filler cap is another race-car modification by the owner.

Philip, not an OSCA, but your guess places it squarely in the rcorrect ballpark - correct country, correct time period, similar group of prominent, 'usual suspects' who envisioned & were behind this project........but instead of the Maserati brothers in the case of OSCA, here we have a car originally conceived by some gent named Enzo, designed by Giotto Bizzarini, styled by Giorgetto Giuguaro at Bertone........what a pedigree, and the marque's name is also an acronym of the the firm's name.

Another visual clue (the bumpers have been removed on this example)....and hopefully some more guesses.

Mattias has it, it's a 1965 ASA 1000 GT, one of 32 imported into the US. This one has spent its entire life in the stewartship of the same family. When dad, the original purchase / owner passed, the son inherited the car but decided against restoring it, rather, made a club racer out of it and has enjoyed it succesfully ever since.

Thanks for participating, over to Mattias.

Congratulations, Mattias, and thanks for posting such an interesting, beautiful and 'New to Me' car Ivan!*

Having just read through the wiki entry I must say that I was impressed by the 91hp / 1000cc statistic! Wonderful to hear that the Family is not only looking after such a special car but are active in the racing side of things. Good Stuff and I'm sure "Il Commendatore" would have approved!

Philip.

*Would you prefer it if we continue to call you John?
