The 170V that Bonhams had for sale had no exposed door hinges though the door shape looks right, the usual profiled not almost flat radiator, and the usual Mercedes chrome rub bars to the running boards not the rubber covering here...so I think its earlier (c. 1935?)

The running boards look much wider than the 170V cars I have seen and as Nigel says, normally metal with chrome accented rubber strips not the much more British looking rubber matting. Must be a special version.

1935 is correct!

hektor, where are you hiding? I‘m sure YOU know the car!

Hello Rona!d,

I am not hiding; have tried to identify the car.  If it is a Mercedes-Benz the door and running boards bear little or no resemblance to any pre-war wagen I know.  I'll keep looking.

The folding windscreen is what has me stumped.  The only image I have of possibly the same model car is second on the right next to the Heckmotoren.

OK, here the full car for further identification. John and Luigi were very close but not spot on.

Dear Rona!d,

I take exception to you editing the photogrph.  Adolf Hitler was reality and I have more reason than most to take exception to him.  A number of my relations were imprisoned by him, some killed.  Nevertheless he was a reality we should deal with, not airbrush him out of history as an inconvenient embarrasment.

We have to pause this as I have to call the collector. hektor found the car on an auction page and the description names it differently to what is my info from the rallye which was organized by the owner of the car. Comparing my car to others of the model info I know it´s not what the auction description says.
