Hi Chris

I do it slightly differently, after you push the cassette into the cassette chamber and into the QL slot, so that it is between the rails of the film guides...

i) place thumb on the sprocket shaft teeth, to pin film into tooth, operate rewind knob until film tightens in cassette, don't go mad, you are just taking up slack.

ii) replace baseplate...

This reduces the risk of the film not feeding properly, works ok with M4 (and later) as well.

And with Canon P, or Yashica YF as well.

Noel

Is there any problem using modern M lenses with an M2 other than minimum focus distance is 1m?

Pete

Minimum focus distance is .7 on the M2.

Lack of certain framelines (75, 28, 135) could also hamper use of certain modern lenses. I have a 75 that I love but shooting it regularly on the M2 gets to be a chore sometimes account lack of 75 lines.

And here's my humble M2 with collapsible Summicron - a nice combination me thinks.

A terrific piece, looks wonderful.

Enjoy !

Best

GEORG

Thank you Georg - I am enjoying it - it had a CLA (it needed it when I first got it) from Gerry at Kindermann. I bought the kit a few years ago and besides the M2 and 35 lens it came with a 50DR (with goggles) and 90/2.8 (ver. 1) - each with Leitz UVa filters and lens hoods, an MC meter, Leitz eveready case, and a couple of Leitz leather lens cases - for what to me was a very good price - still have all the lenses etc.

Cheers

David

My M2 is back from Malcolm Taylor who CLAed it and ironed the shutter curtains. It's a smoooooth operator now. What size metal cap do I need for the 50/2.8?
