Couldn't be better, even for the low resolution provided. Latest version of Lightroom, didn't take me 2 seconds.

It's not a camera, it's an exposure and lens issue. It can happen with fast lenses, nothing to worry about.

Thanks again for fiddling with these.

Are you clicking on the "Remove Chromatic Aberration" box under "Lens Corrections"? It does absolutely nothing for me, with the RAW files or these jpgs.

Did you try the manual slider?

Sorry for the German Ui :)

It even works with LoCA (but not as realiable).

It is not a bug nor a simple issue. It is a combination of longitudinal chromatic aberration, the sensor handling of high-contrast transitions and demosaicing algorithms . The higher resolving  the lens and the sensor, the sooner you'll  see it - not just.with Leica, but with allbrands. Fortunately it is. easily corrected. in postprocessing . Firmware can. mitigate - but not prevent completely.

That one is for lateral CA You need the "Defringe" tool.

The only lenses I’ve seen pretty much zero purple fringing on are the APO Summicron SL lenses. Truly amazing. Even my APO 50 M has some fringing

Almost zero purple fringing with all the APO Summicron SL lenses wide open. Amazing for such sharp lenses. They can’t be software corrected for that, can they?

It must have to do with the sensor. I also see that ca with the 28 lux is more compared to the m10r.

its one of the reasons I am considering ( eventually) switching to a 28 Summicron. ( other 2 factors are vignetting and size)

but I also find ca can be corrected in LR fine.

overall I do prefer the M11 over M10r, butbthe new sensor seems not to be better in all aspects.

No, in the case of the Summicron SL lenses there is no correction at all in software—not even for distortion. They are just that good.

I’ve decided to see it as a mark of quality, highlighting to me how distinguished my 28mm summilux is.  😁

I love this because I feel the same way. Yeah, it fringes a little wide open. But nobody better mess with the 28 lux. Ever. haha

Maybe not that good (at least the SL zooms are not). Why wouldn’t Leica take advantage of the SL digital platform? This is one way SL lenses can be made less expensively than S lenses, since the optical VF in the S system would reveal distortions.

https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/253515-does-the-sl-lens-use-digital-correction/

Let’s see what Leica can do with the 21/24 SL Summicrons, if they ever arrive.

Because some customers want the best optical quality perhaps. How to be sure if lenses are more or less massively corrected by software? Some people are more interested in character than artificial perfection. Glad there are M lenses for that.
