If someone were to post an M11 image and label it M10, followed by an M10 image labeled M11, I'm pretty sure the real M10 will get a lot of flack for looking too "Sony".

Some people see what they want to see. In my experience, every camera model is different. M9 to M10 to M10-R to M11. Same with Nikon. Same with Sony even.

Why not get upset about the Adobe look, the C1 look, DXO look, etc. Now there's some large variation and one doesn't even need to switch cameras...

Having had numerous Leicas since the M3, there is no "Leica look".  Different cameras produce somewhat different colors or other characteristics, but this is not associated with the brand.

For me its important what I get after post processing. Isn't OOC completely irrelevant? To me it is irrelevant. In lightroom I can make all pictures from different cameras look alike (I am Canon R5, Q2 and M11 shooter; for all paid assignements I use Canon and for the rest Leica; always RAW). I do not appreciate that "3D" or "Leica look" discussion. Considering that we live in a fast video world and look at the images on an iPhone like device the whole discussion gets off all reality. All cameras make excellent images. For me its all about better or worse auto focus. I have 3 cameras: One with no AF. A second one with good AF and a third one with outstanding AF. So its clear to me which one to use for what tasks (besides the fact that only with Canon I have the lenses above 100mm focal length).

And finally: When I look at my images I can not say which picture was made with which camera. I simpky can not. Mabe its due to the fact that working in post in Lightroom is very important to me and I love that work. I do not stop until I am satisfied with the result of each single image.

The Leica Look is the glare I get from the wife when yet another new Leica lens arrives at the door.

You clearly don't know the secret...you always buy the same color M. She cant tell the difference between a Black M8 and a Black M11 :)

I really cannot tell what the so called Leica look looks like but for me, the images the M11 produces are very unique and even better than what my M10 produced. But haven‘t tried any digital M prior to these! What I hear often from people who are about to decide for a new M is that the M11 looks too digital, too clinical, too perfect caused by the state of the art / perfect sensor. They therefore chose to go for the M10R for example.

Overall I would also say, it depends on the processing. All the photographers rarely post any pictures out of cam without any adjustments applied.

Cannot understand the hysteria tbh. For me, except of the bugs the M11 still has, it is by far the best and most comfortable M I have used!

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers J

Simple. Look at your subject matter. If he/she has no pores, grease shiny lips and/or glowing eyes like glass beads it is not a Leica or you were testing noise reduction :D.

FWIW, my wife can always tell if I took a picture with Sony A1 or Leica M11, even when I tried to confuse her by taking several pictures in a row with different cameras but similar lenses.

She isn't a photographer nor she's interested in photography.

she is a keeper! Leica lookgood

See @Overgaard’s reply above. 🤷🏻‍♂️

it is what it is. Like I said. Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m seeing things. And the things I see I don’t like.

Could it be simply that your eyes are reacting to the increased detail that a 60MP file offers over a 24MP one?  Have you tried shooting at lower resolution or with different (more vintage) lenses?  The camera and sensor work together to produce the image.  A 60MP sensor is a big difference over 24MP.  You might need to choose an older/softer lens to achieve the softness you desire?

I think Tom Jones had the Leica M rangefinder in mind when he wrote this song...

She's a Lady  -  Leica M11 at least to me... ;) :D

Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.

She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa,
She's a Lady.
Talkin' about that little lady,
And the lady is mine.
Well she's never in the way
Always something nice to say, Oh what a blessing.
I can leave her on her own
Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing.
She's a lady.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady,
And the lady is mine.
Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her.
Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her.
What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her
Help me build a mountain from my little pile of clay.
Hey, hey, hey.
Well she knows what I'm about,
She can take what I dish out, and that's not easy,
Well she knows me through and through,
She knows just what to do, and how to please me.
She's a lady.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady
And the lady is mine.
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Listen to me baby, She's a Lady
Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Talkin about this little lady
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa and the lady is mine
Yeah yeah She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine.

This is the craziest, most pointless thread I’ve ever read.

Person opens thread questioning look of camera’s SOC images.

People just purchased a new camera, most are looking for justification for their purchase.

senseless debate….

Don't bother wasting your time going back to read this thread.

Oh my, I went over and looked at the sample images thread…. There’s nothing special or different from any other high res camera. And I know I’m gonna get the hate but yes…. Some of them actually have that Japanese~American look….. good god!
