The subject title says "when".  LFI Newsletter this afternoon says:

Dear Reader,

LFI 7/2023 will be released shortly.  Due to a postponed product launch, this issue is unfortunately subject to an extended embargo. The new release date for LFI 7/2023 is Monday, October 30, 2023.  We apologise for the delay and, despite the slightly longer wait, wish you much enjoyment with the upcoming issue.

So maybe M11-P will be announced then.

I guess you're right. This is clearly related to the launch of the M11P. October 20th is a good date for this upcoming camera. In any case, I have ordered mine and hope to be delivered before end of october.

Just for curiosity: How does this work - ordering a Leica camera that officially has not yet been announced?

It cannot be a real order, as neither price, features or product numbers are known. But some Leica dealers manage a kind of pre-order list and have put people on it for the M11P since a few months.

Just go to your dealer an pre-order one. The dealer (as you do too) knows that the M11-P will be here soon. The dealer might want to create a waiting list. If you are on top of the list you will have your P very soon 🥰.

Also you are generally not obligated to purchase when doing this, you'll just be notified that you are next on list and there is an available copy and you say yes/no. It helps if you are a known spender at the store, of course. I considered doing it too but it's hard to imagine any upgrade in the M11-P over my M11 that I can't justify the cost of upgrade. But I'm still interested to see if there will be any surprising changes.

I am just surprised about message of the silver M11 being disconued?

If this ends up being true (above quote), I’m surprised here as well and thinking that this is really odd. So perhaps reserving all new brass bodies for the M11p? Maybe the M11D, or M11 BP 😀

I must admit at first I thought discontinuing the chrome M11 was madness as Leica hadn't done this before but if you think about it it makes sense. In the future the M11 only comes in black, has the aluminium top plate and the M11P's are brass topped traditional painted black(?) or chrome with extra internal storage 256(?) may be and no re dot. The New M11P.

Both the silver and black M11 are soon to be listed as discontinued everywhere. This has nothing to do with silver being discontinued as an option.

Ok, now we have real intrigue. What possibly could/would Leica be thinking/building if the above is correct?

M11-P in black and silver. Same thing as always happens!

Edit: Or were you being sarcastic? 🫠

🙂no, not being sarcastic, actually very curious. I guess I always thought that Leica maintained the manufacture and sale of the ‘Standard’ version even once the P’ version comes to market; offering the ‘P’ version at a higher premium price. Thanks

I see. I’d still like to see it show up elsewhere as discontinued before wondering what’s happening.
