Leica M11-P, when?

I own a M10-P which I am not going to sell because I am absolutely in love with it but I like a lot the new features of the M11 and I want to buy one so I will have a second Leica body too that can be useful sometimes. The point is I prefer the "P" models for some reasons:

1. Aesthetical: I prefer not to have the Leica logo in the front but the Leica word in classic characters at the top.

2. Improvements: The "P" version will have some improvements over the "normal" one for sure (The M10-P had a better and quieter shutther and touch screen if I recall it well).

The M10-P was launched 18 months after the M10.

Do you think a "P" version will be launched?

More or less 18 months after the M11?

Will be a looooong waiting 🤣

Its a safe bet that there will be  P version, BP version, Safari, Reporter, and a bunch of other special editions.

The problem with P editions is that while you are getting the 2-3 extra new features, it pales in comparison to the 10-20 new features of the new models, such as what the 11 has over the 10.  If you are the type that tends to upgrade with each new number M, getting the base model will give more satisfaction as you get to enjoy more new features when they are new.  If you tend to keep your cameras and upgrade less often, then waiting for the special edition or P models would be better.  At least that is what I would do.

The m11 is my first M camera so I didn't wait for a special edition.  I would probably wait for the m12 reporter (my favorite colorway for the M) to upgrade again unless the m12 comes with IBIS and EVF, which would force my wallet to open up day 1.

I tend to agree with you.  I want the benefit from the better malleable low light RAW files which is the main reason for me to upgrade.  I am on the waitlist for a regular M11 in silver and will trade it in for the M11P when available.  I did not trade in my M10 for the M10P but held off long enough for the M10R to be announced which I traded the plain M10 for.

Do not be angry with me, but I don't like the logo on the front... 🙈

If I can choose I prefer the P.

The only logo on the front is the red dot...this can be easily replaced with a black dot which is far less visible.

or...a piece of black tape :) There I saved you 18 months and $1000

I would love a black dot to replace my red.  Does anyone have a picture of a silver M with a black dot so I can see how it looks?  Is it easy to replace the dot on the m11?

Duo to Covid-19, we might have to wait at least 18 months for a 11-p, and duo to the inflation, we might have to pay usd 2,000 or higher to get one.

So it is a good idea to buy a m11 two or three months later, there are lots of problems on the first batch m11.

Does anyone sell black dots anymore? DAG ran out years ago.

DAG (Don) stated Leica would let let him sell the black dot anymore.  You can buy a red dot, scrub away the red paint in acetone and respray it any finish of black, then gently with a block of sandpaper, sand away the paint on the Leica script.  I've made several this way and will replace my red dot with a black one.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm seriously toying with the idea of getting an M11, I really like the improved micro detail im seeing in the images that are floating around but really finding it difficult to let go of my black M10P which, for me is the perfect looking digital M. II know this sounds mental but has anyone found a screw head that would replace the red dot? First world problems i know but...

My prediction is that Leica will skip intermediate versions of the M11. It's a bit like admitting the original model was somehow incomplete or flawed. I could be entirely wrong of course.

As in no P, no M, no D versions?

My crystal ball says they are on their way in the next 18-24 months.
