I’m not planning to pre-order the M11. But its most attractive feature at first glance is the abandonment of that idiotic detachable bottom plate relic and the adoption of the modern SL-style battery and release system. The most “GRRRR” impression of the M11 I have so far is the “viewfinder” image stabilizer.  Forgive me if I’ve missed or misread this, but the camera stabilizes the viewfinder image but not the recorded image?  A $9,000 camera that still hasn’t added IBIS but, worse, added an IBIS simulator?  Is this true?

Naw, my M10-R is lovely and all I really need from such a camera. If future firmware updates enable use of the new Visoflex viewfinder I’ll certainly look at that. But the M11 doesn’t offer value commensurate with its heroic price (and likely months-long waiting list).

I clicked "waiting on reviews."

I WOULD have clicked "probably yes," except for the unnecessary "cuteness" of "have to check my bank account."

When it comes to my cameras, my bank account is never an issue - they always pay for themselves eventually. ;)

Reasons:

- reduced file size

- couple of stops improvement in usable ISO over the M10 - at reduced file sizes. ISO 50000 appears to be perfectly usable at 18.2 Mpixels - M10 I won't go above ISO 10000 (usually).

According to Jono, about the Visoflex 2, « There is still some 'black out' after shooting. and so it isn't quite so good for continuous shooting as the Q2 ». Pretty well what i expected so thanks no thanks i will wait for the EVF-M if it comes some day.

If I had the $10,000 it would take to fully invest in the M11 it would need to be the silver chrome brass version. I think it looks great! Lots of positive steps forward. It could be better, but the heart of the camera looks awesome!

Just based on the video that was emailed to me this morning I'm going to pass. Some of it is nice, some not so appealing. In total there just isn't enough new there to make me want to switch from my M10. The thing that surprised me most is the price. I foresaw $12,000 US. I'm glad I was wrong. I really don't get the advantage of being able to record at different resolutions.

One thing the video did do was to convince me that my money would be better spent on a M10 Monochrom.

I like the "idiotic" detachable bottom plate on the M10. IMO the main purpose it serves is to offer further protection to the battery and memory card. I can foresee problems with what appears to be an exposed USB socket. And unless the access door to the battery (and I assume the memory card) is gasketted that's another place where damp and dust can intrude. Dampness in particular supports corrosion and with Leica batteries costing what they do corrosion is to be avoided at all cost.

No, I'm not going to buy the M11 - not yet, anyway, and not this version.

After the M240 I did not buy the M10: most of the reasons have been addressed in the M11, particularly the electronic shutter. However, I have now moved on; the role of the digital M has been filled by the small, lightweight CL and the superb jack-of-all-trades SL2-S. There is now no room for a new M in my life.

Unless........Leica creates an even lighter EVF-based M, as now seems feasible. I might then decide to switch from the CL system.
Like @Louis, I would rather have a CL2 though!

I think they did a lot of fantastic updates with the M11 but I'll be sticking with my M10. The main reason to upgrade would be for a higher resolution (which I don't care about) or the metering, but the M10 still works amazingly well for me. Plus we're first time homeowners so luxuries like $9,000 toys are out the window for a while.
