Fortunately, one of my childhood friends sold me this Leica IIIg with a Voigtlander Heliar 50mm f/3.5 101 edition lens. Still need to process my first roll, but with me having to reorientate myself to each step, everything is taking longer! I have two IIIg, I wanted to let one person paint one but never done that. Oh, that's interesting. I do know that the prior owner sent the camera away for a repaint, but didn't know that the vulcanite was also redone. Just Googling around for vulcanite info and rather impressed that there are several sites and forum discussions on this topic. Reminds me of the interest around collectible cars and debates over the extent of restoring classic models--make it as new as possible or preserve it as is. Hopefully, when the time comes, I'll get the chance to restore the vulcanite to its more pebble-like surface of the original. (I think it looks better through the contrast of textures!) The „normal“ lens of all mobile phones in our millennium was a „super-wide“ back then. These two SUCHER (in German, we‘re more cautious: we search, rather than FIND) left enough space for operating the exposure time wheel on the LTM Leicas.
