It is even better than that.

Imagine that you only fancy to shoot 35mm with your Q2. 
Just got back from a time where travelling is possible again.

You shoot 1000 photos during your two weeks of holiday ? 
Do you want to crop manually 1000 photos ? I don’t think so. 
In camera pre-crop DNG is awesome. It will save you lots of your precious time.

What’s more ? Q2 will limit AF within the selected frame. At least you are sure not to have out of focus picture. 
You will also got metering and auto white balance within the frame. 
Everything is done to mimic a camera with 4 different lenses. 
 

One more thing. In video mode, you got access to the four field of view in Full HD, 4K or Cine 4K. And that is awesome. 
 

CL will offer the same concept except - for video (only full width in full HD) and a kind of Super16 crop for 4K. 
- it will only provide 3 different field of view.

Awesome! Plus you get macro mode.. I think a Q2 is more suited for me

I wouldn't crop 1,000 images manually (LOL), but I'd definitely cull out the ones that made no sense to do anything with and only process the ones I wanted to load to my Smugmug page.

Part of the process I enjoy and one of the reasons why I own better quality cameras.

The idea is to keep the image you envision when you shot it. 
And it is way more than a simple crop. The Q2 really think itself like a 4 lenses camera. 

Very difficult to batch crop different field of view : 28, 35, 50 or 75  

The Q2 with its 47MP only makes sense if we are ready to crop. Otherwise stick with 24MP + zooms 
47MP is no free lunch. They slowed down the Q2. AF is less accurate and slower than Q. Sadly Leica kept the old Maestro II. On the other hand SL2 flies with its Maestro III.  
That’s why I am cropping the hell out of Q2.
